Nudist Colony of the Dead: Cheesy slapstick fun

Just when you think you've seen every possible "Of the dead" movie along comes this fun little cheesy slice of early 90's goodness.

I expected this to be a dumb "Sexploitation" film which by this point were thoroughly dying out but was pleasantly surprised to see a fairly competent comedy.

Heavily comically critical of religion, lots of laugh out loud gags and some good ideas this hits more than it misses.

Sadly it is shoddily made and the musical portion of this comedy horror is by far it's weakest link. The songs aren't cheesy, they're just straight up bad.

Nudist Colony Of The Dead is a fun little comedy feature which made surprise you going in with no expectations.

The Good:

The regular hilarious religious bible references

Some fun slapstick humour

The Bad:

Cheaply made and it shows

Zombies look awful

Songs are pretty bad

There is a passage in the bible about toilet paper

How does anyone know that they're in the middle of nowhere? They could be to the side of it!

Anecdotes
In his introduction to the remastered version, director Mark Pirro stated he was very unhappy with the low light levels on many of the shots. In the closing credits, several famous blind and one-eyed people are included in phony photography credits. He even included a credit for the camera operators' alleged seeing-eye dog.

Versions alternatives
In 2007, writer/director Mark Pirro assembled a new cut of the movie for DVD. In addition to being remastered and re-formatted in a widescreen ratio, this version substitutes rehearsal footage that was shot on video for many scenes and shots that were poorly lit. The new footage is most abundant and noticeable during the campfire scene.
