Created by Doug Ellin, the spiritual successor follows several Hollywood stars who've passed their prime and fallen on hard times. The main draw is Charlie Sheen, who portrays a heightened version of himself as he tries to recapture past glory and rekindle his acting career.

Along with Sheen, several Entourage actors play themselves in the upcoming series, including Kevin Connolly and Kevin Dillon, who famously portrayed Eric Murphy and Johnny "Drama" Chase on the hit HBO drama. Adam Sandler's production company, Happy Madison Productions, released a holiday-themed animated film in the early 2000s, and after it bombed, it would be two decades before they worked on another animated project. Happy Madison Productions was founded by Sandler in December 1999, taking its name from two of the actor's most popular movies he co-wrote with Tim Herlihy — Happy Gilmore and Billy Madison. Stan, the Australian streaming service owned by Nine Entertainment, has renewed its content supply partnership with Lionsgate. The multi-year output agreement secures a slate of first-run premium scripted dramas from Starz and Lionsgate and a new slate of theatrical films exclusive to Australian audiences.

The studio will launch 12 Fast channels focused on individual titles including “The Pink Panther,” “Stargate,” “Green Acres,” and “The Outer Limits,” alongside branded channels such as “MGM Presents,” “MGM Presents: Action,” and “MGM Presents: Sci-Fi,” which will be programmed with premium movies and series including “Capote” and “Red Dawn.” The MGM Fast channels join “Paternity Court,” “In the Heat of the Night,”“The Addams Family” and“Teen Wolf,” which are already live on Freevee.

Kevin Dobson, best known to TV audiences as Mack MacKenzie on the long-running Dallas spinoff Knots Landing, has died at the age of 77.

Dobson’s passing was confirmed by the United Veterans Council of San Joaquin County, on which he previously served as chairman. A cause of death has not been disclosed.

Kevin Dobson, an actor best known for his starring roles on the CBS shows “Kojak” and “Knots Landing,” died on Sunday. He was 77.

The United Veterans Council of San Joaquin County announced Dobson’s death on Monday afternoon. He served as a former chairman of the organization.

A former Army soldier and Long Island Rail Road conductor, Dobson began his acting career in the late 1960s, first appearing on shows like “One Life to Live,” “The Doctors,” “The Mod Squad,” “Emergency!” and “Cannon.” His first major role came on “Kojak,” where he played detective Bobby Crocker, opposite star Telly Savalas’ lead role as lieutenant Theo Kojak. The show aired for five season on CBS from 1973-1978, and Dobson reunited with the cast for the 1990 TV movie “Kojak: It’s Always Something.”

Actor Kevin Dobson, a star on beloved CBS dramas “Kojak” and “Knots Landing,” died Sunday of a heart attack. He was 77.

Dobson’s death was announced via Facebook by the United Veterans Council of San Joaquin County, which the actor had previously served as chairman.

He is best known for two long-running roles on primetime TV: first for playing opposite Telly Savalas as Detective Bobby Crocker, Theo Kojak’s younger partner, on “Kojak” from 1973 to 1978, and then as patriarch M. Patrick (“Mack”) McKenzie on the soap “Knots Landing” from 1982 to 1993.

Born on March 18, 1943 in Jackson Heights, New York, Dobson worked as a trainman, brakeman and conductor on the Long Island Railroad in New York followed by a few years as a waiter before he decided to start his acting career.

Dobson’s first acting jobs included a series of uncredited appearances on daytime drama “The Doctors” in 1969 and in the 1971 Jane Fonda film “Klute.

Paramount and Todd Garner have signed a two-year first-look deal for Garner’s Broken Road Productions.

Garner formed Broken Road in 2005 and has produced 18 films. He inked a two-year first-look deal with Covert Media covering co-financing and co-production in 2016 after being with Sony for several years.

Broken Road’s films have included the two “Paul Blart” movies for Sony, Tom Cruise’s “Knight and Day,” New Line’s disaster thriller “Into the Storm,” and the upcoming New Line adult comedy “Tag” during its 13-year history. Variety recently exclusively reported that Garner was developing the family comedy “Playing With Fire” at Paramount Players.

Broken Road has also produced two projects for Netflix — the comedy “Naked,” starring Marlon Wayans and Regina Hall; and the Kevin James vehicle “The True Memoirs of an International Assassin.”

In a TV world where some services offer up brand new TV shows every week, it’s all the more impressive when a network can maintain quality with only a handful of new series each calendar year. One such channel? FX, which for the better part of the last 20 years, has been a place that’s helped push the boundaries of what’s allowed and what’s successful on TV.

Particularly since 2002 (the year when two of the shows in this collection premiered), FX has become a force for compelling dramas, surprising comedies, and a few shows that proudly defy falling into either category. Not all their efforts have been critical or audience successes (for every “The Shield,” there’s bound to be an “Anger Management”), but there’s a certain consistency to the FX banner that’s come without having a particular house style.

So which of these shows are most worthy of praise?...

TV writer Daley Haggar is “snitching on Hollywood sexism” in a Lenny Letter published Friday. The “Anger Management,” “Cristela” and “Friends With Benefits” alum says she was fired from a gig after being sexually harassed by a senior staff member she identified as “Carlton.” Haggar, who per IMDb was once a task producer and consultant on “The Apprentice,” did not identify which series the story was referring to — but she shared her motivation for the essay’s timing. “I had drinks with a group of friends — all younger female writers,” Haggar wrote for Lena Dunham and Jenni Konner’s website.
