Liam Neeson may have all the skills he needed to lead the Taken franchise to success across three movies that redefined his career, but many people are just discovering that this was just the beginning for the saga of Bryan Mills. The TV series prequel to the Taken franchise is currently streaming on Freevee and has debuted at the top of the streamer’s TV show chart.
The series, which was released in 2017 and stars Clive Standen in the lead role, tracks a younger Bryan Mills, showing how he became the man with the skills that everyone grew to love more than a decade earlier. A former Green Beret who experiences a personal tragedy, Mills' path is set when he becomes bent on revenge while moving into a deadly career as a CIA operative that will certainly come in useful years later.
The series received mixed reviews from critics and audiences.

One of the central mysteries of Netflix's epic superhero series Jupiter's Legacy is how the first generation of the Union of Justice received their powers. Switching between 1929 and present day, Jupiter's Legacy follows the story of the world's first superheroes and how their children struggle to live up to their legacy and expectations. After the stock market crashes in 1929, Walter (Ben Daniels) and Sheldon Sampson's (Josh Duhamel) father sets the events of Jupiter's Legacy in motion by jumping to his death in front of his son. Sheldon soon starts hallucinating visions of his father and places he's never seen before, including a rundown farmhouse and an island shrouded in mystery. Trying to reclaim some semblance of his sanity, Sheldon scribbles down what he sees but nothing makes sense until a visit from his best friend, George Hutchence (Matt Lanter).

It seems pretty odd to have survived a serious accident only to proclaim, “I cannot wait to do a superhero show,” but stranger still is the fact that that’s exactly what actor David Julian Hirsch is now doing as Richard Conrad/Blue-Bolt on Jupiter’s Legacy.
Born in Canada on October 26, 1973, Hirsch had every intention of becoming a lawyer, having studied criminology at the University of Toronto. Then he “foolishly” decided to perform in a New York summer acting workshop and found himself hooked. He made his TV acting debut in a 1998 episode of La Femme Nikita and became a series regular on such Canadian series as Leap Years, Naked Josh, Lovebites, and Hawthorne. Between 2001 and 2013 he appeared in about a dozen films. But it’s Netflix’s Jupiter’s Legacy that is the answer to his accident-inducing pronouncement and as you can tell from the following interview,...

It’s almost inconceivable that Josh Duhamel did not suit up as a superhero until now. But Jupiter’s Legacy, premiering Friday, May 7 on Netflix, promises to prove worth the wait, he says.
Known to TV audiences from his roles on Las Vegas, Hulu’s 11.22.63, USA’s Unsolved: The Murders of Tupac and the Notorious B.I.G. and, yes, All My Children, Duhamel perhaps came closest to “superhero” fare with his role as Army Ranger William Lennox in the Transformers movie franchise. But even there, he played a mere (though badass) mortal who battled robot aliens.

It's a bittersweet day for "Flashpoint" fans as the fifth and final season of the Canadian drama kicks off tonight. The show was launched amidst the 2007-08 writers' strike, when U.S. networks were looking elsewhere for options, and it found success on both sides of the border. Throughout its run, it performed decently for CBS/Ion, but it was always a hit for CTV. "Flashpoint" probably could've went on for a few more years, but they (whoever "they" are) decided the time was right to call it a day.
So who better to talk to about the upcoming season than Enrico Colantoni, who has led this team -- on-screen and off -- from the beginning? Because he's all kinds of awesome, we reminisced about my first set visit for "Flashpoint'"s first season (on a scorching July day outside of Toronto) and chatting with him was like chatting with an old pal.

It's being reported that HawthoRNe will soon be renewed for a third season of 10 episodes.
HawthoRNe revolves around Chief Nursing Officer Christina Hawthorne (Jada Pinkett Smith) and the rest of the staff at Richmond Trinity Hospital. The series also stars Michael Vartan, Suleka Mathew, Christina Moore, David Julian Hirsh, and Hannah Hodson.
The renewal isn't much of a surprise since the series continues to be a good performer for TNT, averaging 3.1 million viewers and a 0.9 rating in the 18-49 demographic. That's much lower than the cable channel's bigger shows, The Closer and Rizzoli & Isles, but still enough to earn another 10 episode season. Of TNT's summer dramas, only Dark Blue's fate is unknown.
What do you think? Are you glad to hear HawthoRNe will be back for season three? Is it worth watching?...

During its first season, "Hawthorne," which anchors TNT's Tuesday original-programming block at 9 p.m., is averaging 3.8 million viewers, a 69% improvement in the time slot.
" 'Hawthorne' has been a great addition to TNT's lineup of original series, and Jada Pinkett Smith's performance has been a tremendous draw with viewers," said Michael Wright, executive vp and head of programming at TNT, TBS and TCM.
Created by John Masius, "Hawthorne" stars Pinkett Smith as Christina Hawthorne, a compassionate and headstrong chief nursing officer at Richmond Trinity Hospital.
The Sony TV-produced series, whose first season wraps next week, co-stars Michael Vartan, Suleka Mathew, David Julian Hirsh, Christina Moore and Hannah Hodson.
Pinkett Smith, Masius, Glen Mazzara and Jamie Tarses are exec producing.

Chicago – TNT’s medical drama “HawthoRNe” would have felt overly generic in any month of the year, but debuting in the same one as Showtime’s far darker, subtler and more entertaining “Nurse Jackie” does the show no favors at all. Jada Pinkett Smith executive-produces and stars in a well-intentioned program with a good pedigree (John Masius of “St. Elsewhere” is one of the producers) but one that feels like a relic of a bygone era of more manipulative television.
Television Rating: 2.0/5.0 The premiere of “HawthoRNe” introduces us to the title character, Nurse Christina Hawthorne, on the one-year anniversary of her husband’s death. Hawthorne is the Chief Nursing Officer at Richmond Trinity Hospital, leading a group of nurses against two-dimensional doctors always trying to screw them over and patients who need them to survive.

Lesbian/bi visibility on primetime American television this summer is not much better than it is the rest of the year — which is to say, it's pretty slim pickings.
Among the shows premiering or returning in the next few weeks, there are a few with supporting lesbian/bi characters (Mental, The Closer); one with an out actress in a supporting role (Hawthorne); and a reality show featuring two out female contestants (Top Chef Master).
Here's a review of the pilot or first new episode(s) of all four series, and a short list of the premiere/air dates of other shows that may interest you.
Warning: some mild spoilers, but no major plot points revealed
Mental (Drama, Fox)
Dates: Tuesdays at 9pm Pst/Est, premiering May 26
Cast: Chris Vance (Prison Break), Annabella Sciorra (Queens Supreme, The L Word), Derek Webster (Stargate), Jacqueline McKenzie (4400), Marisa Ramirez (General Hospital), Nicholas Gonzalez (CSI: Miami...

Michael Vartan is set to star opposite Jada Pinkett Smith in TNT's "Time Heals." Pinkett Smith, who also executive produces the series, stars as the director of nursing at a Charlotte hospital. Sources confirm to HitFix that Vartan will step in for original pilot co-star Jeffrey Nordling as the hospital's director of medicine. As one might imagine, Pinkett Smith and Vartan's characters frequently bump heads, but there may also be feelings there. David Julian Hirsh, Laura Kenley, Christina Moore and Suleka Mathew also star in the John Masius-created pilot. TNT gave "Time Heals" a 10-episode pick-up back in January and set...

TNT has picked up two pilots to series, the Jada Pinkett Smith-starring medical drama "Time Heals" and Jerry Bruckheimer's cop drama pilot "The Line."
Both projects have been given 10-episode orders and are targeted for premieres later this year.
"Our new series are consistent with our belief that audiences are drawn to relatable, complex characters showcased in exciting, emotional settings and story lines," said Michael Wright, head of programming at TNT, TBS and TCM.
"Time Heals," from writer John Masius, Sony TV, 100% Womon Prods., John Masius Prods. and FanFare Prods., centers on Christina Hawthorne (Pinkett Smith), a strong but caring director of nursing at a Charlotte, N.C., hospital.
Most of the pilot's cast members, including David Julian Hirsh, Laura Kenley, Christina Moore and Suleka Mathew, will continue on the series. The pilot was directed by Mikael Salomon.
Masius is exec producing "Time Heals" with Pinkett Smith and Jamie Tarses.
