Acclaimed actor and action star Kurt Russell, star of such cinematic classics as The Thing, Escape from New York, Big Trouble in Little China, the Fast and Furious movies, Death Proof, the MCU, and much, much more, evidently makes a crowd-pleasing Santa Claus as his Christmas Netflix outing has now made its way into the top 10. After arguably his best turn yet as Deadpool in Deadpool & Wolverine, Ryan Reynolds knows fans would love to see his "Merc With a Mouth" feature in the Avengers sequels. Despite the demand to see his character alongside the Avengers in the upcoming films, Reynolds insists he never wants his character to be a member of the hallowed supergroup.

Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, Reynolds was asked about Deadpool's MCU future and whether that future includes his character appearing in the next two Avengers installments, Doomsday and Secret Wars. While Reynolds is optimistic about the prospects of joining the upcoming Avengers films, he insists he never wants Wade Wilson to join the supergroup or become a part of the X-Men. "There are no updates to share just yet. But I trust Kevin and [Marvel exec] Lou D’Esposito with my life. The character trait I love most about Deadpool is that he’s a fanboy.

Deadpool & Wolverine broke box office records this summer and star Ryan Reynolds has now found his next comic book movie project. According to Variety, Paramount Animation has tapped Reynolds' production company, Maximum Effort Productions, to develop a Mighty Mouse feature.

Matt Lieberman, who worked with Reynolds on 2021's Free Guy, will write the screenplay. He's previously penned movies like The Christmas Chronicles, Rumble, Scoob!, and The Addams Family.

It's unclear what role Reynolds will play in Mighty Mouse beyond being a producer, though we'd be shocked if he doesn't end up lending his voice to the title character. As far as we're aware, this isn't the mystery project he, Hugh Jackman, and Shawn Levy are set to reunite for.

Mighty Mouse was introduced way back in 1942 by animator Terrytoons. The character was initially meant to be a parody of Superman and debuted in a short titled The Mouse of Tomorrow.

The Addams Family 2 is an upcoming computer-animated supernatural comedy road film for the spooky-ooky family that will be releasing next month. It's looking like we're going to get a sequel to Free Guy. Premiering in theaters on August 13, Free Guy stars Ryan Reynolds as a background character in a video game who's given the opportunity to become the hero. The success it's seen on its opening weekend was enough to convince Disney to order more, as Reynolds posted on Twitter that there is now an official demand from the studio for a sequel.

Reynolds brings just the right tone of bright eyed obliviousness to the role of mild mannered bank teller named Guy. He’s blissfully unaware of the true nature of the game around him and treats the frequent armed robberies at his place of employment as just another minor inconvenience that can be forgotten about after a few beers with his best friend, a security guard at the bank played by Lil Rel Howry. Levy directs Ryan Reynolds, who plays Guy, a bank teller, who one day discovers he is actually an Npc (a non-player character) in a video game. Upon learning this, and with the help of Jodie Comer’s character, Molotov Girl, he decides to break free and save the world.

With an original screenplay by Matt Lieberman and Zak Penn, the “Stranger Things” director took the script and ran with it, paying homage where necessary and working with production designer Ethan Tobman to fill the world of the film with Easter eggs and references. His greatest achievement was getting three yes answers from Disney, Marvel and Lucasfilm to agree to using their most iconic IP for the film.

When the new 20th Century Studios movie Free Guy opens on Friday (August 13), one question will no doubt be on the minds of viewers emerging from the theater: Is director Shawn Levy and star Ryan Reynolds’ cheerfully bonkers video game adventure the start of a brand new franchise?

Reynolds stars as Guy, an unassuming and always upbeat bank teller in the unusually violent metropolis of Free City, whose life is a curious mix of repetitious routines like getting coffee with best friend Buddy (Lil Rel Howery) and having his bank robbed by a brutal criminal gang.

The great big handsome-goofy face of Ryan Reynolds looms out of the screen in this fantasy comedy from screenwriter Matt Lieberman and director Shawn Levy (of the Night at the Museum franchise). It’s an undemanding and cheerfully silly riff on the themes of virtual reality and artificial intelligence, and what the heck we’re all doing in this big old universe of ours: as if someone took The Truman Show or Inception – or even The Lego Movie – and stripped out every serious satirical ambition, replacing it with M&m-coloured spectacle. The result is not something that’s in any way challenging, but Reynolds is so puppyishly eager to please.

Monotony isn’t a problem for the generic citizens of Free City, an open-world video game in the vein of “Grand Theft Auto,” where robberies, shootouts, and explosion are commonplace.

Within this virtual realm of bloodless violence, director Shawn Levy builds the action-packed rom-com “Free Guy,” his most thematically ambitious project yet thanks to writers Matt Lieberman (“The Christmas Chronicles”) and Zak Penn (“Ready Player One”).

Fortunately for this team, their big-budget creation evokes a bit of “The Truman Show” more than it does the dreadful “Pixels,” another picture that bet on the mass appeal of video-game culture but with an angle of nostalgia. Levy, a Hollywood regular behind the bankable “Night at the Museum” franchise, operates in eye-popping VFX set pieces and above-average comic timing, consistently landing dialogue-driven, self-aware gags.

On paper, Free Guy is a movie about a bank teller named Guy (Ryan Reynolds) who one day realizes that he’s actually a non-playable character in a popular online video game called Free City. While Guy is mostly interested in using his newfound awareness to win the heart of the Free City player he’s fallen in love with, he soon finds himself in the middle of a game development conspiracy that could ultimately lead to Free City’s shutdown and the end of his world.

In reality, however, Free Guy is a movie about references. While many of those references are little more than brief nods to popular video games, even the film’s basic structure feels like a compilation of various concepts that we’ve seen before. Honestly, one of the best ways to properly describe the movie is to take a page out of its playbook and use references.

According to director Tony Cervone, a Scoob! sequel is now in development. Originally set for a proper theatrical premiere, the animated Scooby-Doo prequel was instead made available to own or rent digitally in addition to screening in limited theaters last May. The movie pulled in around $26.3 million at the box office, but given the circumstances of its release, it's difficult to truly gauge how much of a success Scoob! has been for Warner Bros.

Apparently, the studio sees the potential in expanding the Hanna-Barbera Cinematic Universe, as a sequel is reportedly in development. Speaking with Comic Book Movie, Cervone was asked about the future of Scoob! and if he'd considered a prequel or sequel. In response, the director confirmed that a follow-up is already in development, and better yet, Cervone and the rest of the original creative team are all back on board. From the interview:
