Oppenheimer and Trap star Josh Hartnett is a bleach blonde John Wick in the latest footage from this month’s aerial action thriller, Fight or Flight. This is far from your average in-flight entertainment, as Hartnett finds himself going up against, well, everyone on a plane full of killers. Fortunately, Hartnett’s character, Lucas Reyes, is a killer himself. Unfortunately, he’s been tasked with protecting the one person all the other killers want dead. You can check out the new trailer for Fight or Flight below.
Fight or Flight is directed by James Madigan (Runaways) and finds Hartnett facing off against several familiar faces in what looks like a twist on Brad Pitt’s 2022 action outing Bullet Train. The cast includes Charithra Chandran (Bridgerton) as the mysterious target that Hartnett’s assassin is tasked with protecting, with Julian Kostov (Shadow and Bone), Katee Sackhoff (Battlestar Galactica) and Marko Zaror...

“I want Tong Po! Give me Tong Po!” If you’d like to live out your kickboxing dreams, only without all that pesky physical activity, you might be interested to learn that Force Multiplier Studios are in the early stages of developing an official Kickboxer video game based on the iconic action movie starring Jean-Claude Van Damme.
The Kickboxer video game “will combine the rich narrative of Kickboxer with kinetic martial arts action to deliver an intense, high-octane brawler, and feature iconic characters and locations from the franchise originally starring martial arts icon Jean-Claude Van Damme.” Now, the big question: will Van Damme be making an appearance? IGN asked Force Multiplier Studios that very question, but they didn’t have a concrete answer… yet

Eight and a half years ago, Dimitri Logothetis rebooted the Kickboxer franchise by writing and producing Kickboxer: Vengeance, in which Alain Moussi took over the role of Kurt Sloane, the character played by Jean-Claude Van Damme in the original Kickboxer back in 1989, and Van Damme played his martial arts trainer Master Durand. That film was quickly followed by Kickboxer: Retaliation, which Logothetis directed himself. Seven years have passed since the release of that movie, and this entire time we’ve been waiting to hear when Logothetis was going to get the trilogy capper Kickboxer: Armageddon into production. Now, it looks like it’s finally about to happen. The Hollywood Reporter has broken the news that Kickboxer: Armageddon has secured a U.S. and Canada distribution deal with Warner Bros. Home Entertainment and is expected to start filming in the spring.

Action movie icon Jean-Claude Van Damme returns to one of his best-loved franchises in Kickboxer reboot sequel, Kickboxer: Armageddon, and we now have some idea regarding the release of what's sure to be another martial arts B-movie masterpiece. Kickboxer: Armageddon will find Van Damme joining forces with fellow action heroes Scott Adkins, Alain Moussi, and John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum star and martial arts icon Mark Dacascos, it has now been confirmed, with the action outing having now been picked up for distribution by Warner Bros. Home Entertainment in the U.S. and Canada.
Disappointingly, Kickboxer: Armageddon does not yet have a release date, but now that distribution has been settled, those details will surely be revealed soon. Filmmaker Dimitri Logothetis, who first began breathing new life into the cult classic action franchise with 2016’s Kickboxer: Vengeance, will once again take the helm for Kickboxer: Armageddon, working from a script he co-wrote with Jim McGrath.

Trap and Oppenheimer star Josh Hartnett has played an action hero before, but never quite like in this year’s Fight or Flight. And it sounds like the 30 Days of Night actor gives even Keanu Reeves’ John Wick a run for his money after finding himself standing alone against a cavalcade of fellow assassins...while on a plane. Several reactions to Fight or Flight have now emerged, and the action thriller could make the perfect start to 2025.
The first glowing review of Fight or Flight comes courtesy of X/Twitter user @DerekBrocks, who took to the social media platform to heap praise on both Josh Hartnett’s performance and the fight sequences on display within this claustrophobic setting.

Cyberpunk and martial arts are two facets of movie genres that might not have a lot in common on the surface. However, they make for an incredible combination. Juxtaposing the technological and virtual realities of cyberpunk with the physical discipline and technique of martial arts is always engaging. Many of the best cyberpunk sci-fi movies are from the 1980s and 1990s, as this was when the internet was taking hold, and both filmmakers and audiences were beginning to fear what this meant for society. However, there are just as many memorable modern additions to the genre.
These action films within the cyberpunk genre range from campy martial arts movies to serious explorations of fighting techniques with deep social and cultural messages. Many of these projects blur the line between action, sci-fi, cyberpunk, and martial arts, using the features of each of these topics interchangeably. The futuristic worlds the characters belong...

The 100, which began airing in 2014, was an epic story of the apocalypse. A gang of juvenile delinquents from the Arc space station returned to a devastated Earth to see if it was habitable and found that humankind still lived. But things weren't remotely easy from that point on. Beloved characters frequently died on the show.
And yet, plenty of the characters found love, along with the actors who played them. No less than four real-life couples were brought together because of The 100. There were even marriages involved! Clearly, there was something in the air on The 100 set.

Donnie Yen's Caine facing off against iconic martial artists like Jean-Claude Van Damme and Tony Jaa would be epic for John Wick fans. The potential for new martial artist foes in the John Wick spinoff is exciting, especially considering Yen's chemistry with many other performers in the genre. Casting someone like Michelle Yeoh could bring a new level of star power and intensity to the franchise.
The number of great martial arts actors that could face Donnie Yen in his upcoming John Wick spinoff is endless. Famous for his roles in Ip Man, Hero, and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Yen pulled out all the stops and went toe-to-toe with Keanu Reeves as the blind assassin named Caine in John Wick 4. The character was such a hit that a Caine John Wick spinoff is now in the works, joining The Continental and Ballerina in expanding the hit action franchise's world.

Scott Adkins joins upcoming Kickboxer reboot, Kickboxer: Armaggedon, as sadistic cult leader Cesare in final chapter of trilogy. Adkins, a martial arts legend, is praised by the director for his unique action style. The Kickboxer return has been praised for skilled fight choreography and exciting action sequences.
John Wick: Chapter 4 star Scott Adkins will continue to ply his trade as he joins the upcoming Kickboxer reboot, Kickboxer: Armaggedon. According to THR, Adkins, who has long been the best kept secret in martial arts and action cinema thanks to the likes of the Undisputed series, Avengement, and Accident Man, has now joined the final chapter in the Kickboxer reboot trilogy.
Based on the 1980s action franchise which began way, way back in 1989 with the first Kickboxer. Starring Jean-Claude Van Damme as Kurt Sloane a young man out for revenge, the Kickboxer franchise is now made up of several sequels starring different action movie leads.

A ruthless puppet master lures a grieving hit man into a deadly competition of assassins. King of Killers, adapted by Kevin Grevioux from his Darkstorm Comics graphic novel, is a swift and bloody actioner that goes in a surprisingly unexpected direction. Arteries spurt as limbs are sliced off like ham at the deli counter. Brutal beatdowns and stylized gunplay are followed with frenzied stabbing that would make Ghostface jealous. The film is a check your brain at the door adrenaline rush of violence. Frank Grillo, a Hollywood stalwart and one of my favorite actors, steals the show with a deliciously exaggerated performance.
Marcus Garan (Alain Moussi) strains as his mangled face is about to be driven through a wall spike. The film then cuts to a wintry scene a year earlier. A disguised Marcus casually walks into a bar. He observes a shady group of men heading towards the bathroom.

King of Killers sets itself apart from the John Wick franchise with its unique premise of a group of assassins trapped in a game of life and death against a master manipulator. The movie explores power dynamics and cooperation during moments of distress, adding depth to the action. Frank Grillo delivers a standout performance as the manipulator, contributing to the film's biggest action moments.

Alain Moussi’s fighting prowess is on display in King Of Killers, but what the former stuntman and martial arts-trained actor has to kick up a notch are his acting skills. Frank Grillo is the main attraction in King Of Killers, and the actor shows up his fellow costars in this solid action movie but the film suffers from some corny and on-the-nose dialogue.

There is a tendency for action films to go overboard, especially with the kind of special effects they have at their disposal these days. The good thing about the new movie King of Killers is that it keeps the fight sequences well within the emotional confines of the story. Yet, somewhere in the flow of the story, the punch of the fight sequences is taken away. Written and directed by Kevin Grevioux, who also plays an important role in the film, King of Killers is primarily a story about Marcus Garan, a family man who also happens to work for an organization in the capacity of an assassin. When his wife, Karla, is killed, he hangs up his boots and dedicates himself to taking care of his daughter, Kimberly. It’s clear from the get-go that this consummate assassin is just too good at his job to be left alone in his civilian life.

As the big-budget projects get delayed and studios attempt to secure a deal with the Writers’ Guild of America, some of the smaller films that work outside of the studio system hope to use their grassroots status as an advantage during these times. Kevin Smith recently announced that his production, The 4:30 Movie, was approved to film with a waiver, and his movie is intended to start its principal photography later this month. Now, the director of the Kickboxer reboot is now preparing for his next two projects, hoping to get a waiver to allow his film to proceed.

The film is set to star Alain Moussi, who took over for the part of Kurt Sloane, previously occupied by action legend, Jean-Claude Van Damme.

Bob Odenkirk had plenty of time to prep for his latest role — two years to be precise. During the week he would film “Better Call Saul,” and on weekends he would fly to meet up with a stuntman for his role in Universal action thriller “Nobody,” which opens March 26 in theaters.
The 58-year-old actor plays Hutch, a seemingly milquetoast suburban husband who, trying to keep his family safe, doesn’t fight back when thieves break into his home one night. But the robbery triggers his long buried, violent past, propelling the film from “Hardcore Henry” director Ilya Naishuller.
It was the first time Odenkirk, known for a career in comedy, had delved into stunts. But the actor, also a producer on the project, had another motive — a personal one: His own home had been broken into twice. If anyone could relate to Hutch, it would be him.

Photo: ‘Jiu Jitsu’/Netflix Shoot For The Comets New to Netflix this past weekend is the sci-fi comic book adaptation ‘Jiu Jitsu’ starring Alain Moussi, Frank Grillo, Nicolas Cage, JuJu Chan, and Tony Jaa. The film is directed by Dimitri Logothetis, the filmmaker behind Kickboxer: Vengeance, who also penned the comic the film is based on with co-writer Jim McGrath. The film follows Jake Barnes, played by Moussi, as he goes toe-to-toe with an alien warrior that arrives every six-years when a comet passes over Earth to challenge the human Jiu Jitsu warriors to battle. This film is very ambitious in its production, specifically with its camera and stunt work — unfortunately, when shooting for the stars the film doesn’t always make it. The film has some nuggets of good ideas and potential but overall, has too many aspects that needed improvement for me to be satisfied. Related article: A...

Alain Moussi is an international action star born on March 29, 1981 in Libreville, Gabon from a Lebanese father, Jean Moussi, and French-Canadian mother, Rita Moussi. Moussi began his martial arts training in the art of jujutsu under Canadian martial arts legend John Therien and also trained in kickboxing under legendary kickboxing champion Jean-Yves Theriault. He had trained in Brazilian jiu-jitsu under Carlos Machado, eventually earning his black belt in the art. Moussi got his start as a stuntman and credits Jean Frenette, a former world martial arts champion turned stunt coordinator for films, with giving him his start.

Apparently Bruce Willis was slated to be in this instead of Nicolas Cage… Thank the movie gods we got Cage!
I guess in some circles the career of Nicolas Cage has become somewhat of a “meme”. Yes it can be said that we are a far cry from the Oscar-winning Leaving Las Vegas Cage or the height of his acting clout, 90s Face/Off Cage, but I am of the firm opinion we are in the vintage Cage phase of this damn fine actors career. Also let’s be honest Mandy, Colour Out of Space and Primal are all cracking movies in their own right and these are his latest outings; so you never know, much like Josh Brolin and Matthew McConaughey had their comebacks, we may...

"He's crazy... like me!" This already debuted in the US last month. Signature Ent. in the UK has revealed a second trailer for the sci-fi fantasy action martial arts movie made by Greek-American filmmaker Dimitri Logothetis (director of 2018's Kickboxer: Retaliation) called Jiu Jitsu. It's opening in the UK in just a few more weeks, which is why there is another trailer. Described as "basically Predator meets Mortal Kombat meets National Treasure," the action film is about an ancient order of Jiu Jitsu fighters who face a vicious race of alien invaders in the form of a fighter named Brax. They must battle him for the survival of Earth. That's all you really need to know besides the killer cast: Nicolas Cage along with Alain Moussi, Frank Grillo, Rick Yune, Marie Avgeropoulos, Juju Chan, and Tony Jaa. If this still looks like something you might enjoy, then rent it today and have fun!

Cage is in his freaky incarnation as part of a priestly band of martial-arts superstars in this grim sci-fi crossover
The entertainingly frazzled presence of Nicolas Cage provides a reason to pay some attention – but not much – to this otherwise uninspired and by-the-numbers martial-arts action-sci-fi crossover.
Kickboxing star Alain Moussi plays Jake, a guy that we first see in some kind of mortal combat with a mysterious extraterrestrial figure that emerges from a temple in Burma every few years or so for a monumental showdown with humanity – or, at any rate, that element of humanity who are keen on one-on-one Mma smackdowns. Later, Jake wakes up with his memory gone, and must try to come to terms with his forgotten warrior destiny. In so doing, he makes contact with a priestly siblinghood of martial arts superstars who are also dead set on taking down this invader. They include the wacky...

The classic martial arts film Kickboxer was given new life in 2016 by producer and screenwriter Dimitri Logothetis, the man behind the remake Kickboxer: Vengeance. The legendary Jean-Claude Van Damme took on the role of the mentor, while martial artist Alain Moussi was introduced to the world of cinema with the starring role of the young man who wishes to face the Muay Thai fighter who took the life of his brother in Thailand. “Dimitri and I, we’ve known each other now for 10 years, he’s a dear friend”, said Moussi in an interview for Screen Anarchy. “It started as producer hiring an actor, I was saying give me the chance. That’s what Dimitri did for me and that was the relationship. It progressed to...

The erratic world of VOD consumption saw a lift this week with debuts of “The New Mutants” (Disney) and “Unhinged” (Solstice), films that were the first wide releases when theaters began to reopen in August. Ninety days later, normal windows dictate that it’s time for non-premium availability. (They each rent for $5.99.)
Disney’s Marvel spin-off took the top spot at Apple TV and FandangoNow, while Russell Crowe’s stalker thriller is #1 at Google Play. Two items of note: “Mutants” shows its strength by taking the top spot at Fandango, which ranks by revenue, not transactions; that’s impressive for a standard-price title. Unlike “Mutants,” “Unhinged” had a PVOD release and now sees a revival at its lower price.
These two titles were the only ones to place on three charts. (Spectrum’s weekly chart lags behind and will likely show them next week.) “Unhinged” placed #2 and #3 elsewhere, while “Mutants” was #5 on Google.

On the face of it, a film about Nicolas Cage fighting an alien assassin in the jungle should be hard to screw up, let Cage rage and the entertainment is almost a given. With action specialist Dimitri Logothetis at the helm, Jiu Jitsu certainly had potential to deliver solid, pulpy, kick-punchy fun. Unfortunately, in spite of an all-star cast of martial arts superstars and a solid concept, the end product is somehow simultaneously too hyperactive to track and a complete slog in terms of plot. Though it's Cage on the poster selling the film, Jiu Jitsu is actually a vehicle for B-level martial arts star Alain Moussi, a favorite of Logothetis who led the casts of his previous entries in the Kickboxer saga, Vengeance and Retaliation....

It’s not the worst idea in sci-fi B-movie history: a ruthless alien race, that also happen to be experts in the martial arts, invade the planet every half-dozen years to battle its most exceptional warriors. The fate of mankind is at stake, but in “Jiu Jitsu,” writer-director Dimitri Logothetis (“Kickboxer: Retaliation”) makes the absolute least of a promising concept. Shamelessly cribbing from the original “Predator” (1987), “Mortal Kombat” (1992), and “The Bourne Identity” (2002),
After he is saved by a Burmese fishing boat, Jake Barnes (Alain Moussi), a severely injured master Jiu Jitsu fighter, recovers, but suffers from amnesia. Mimicking his state of confusion, it’s not clear when the film takes place — though the characters refer to their location (where much of the action unfolds) as Burma, which became Myanmar in 1989, so one can only assume that the film is either set prior to 1989, or is in some kind of alternate...

A movie made for young men whose parents or girlfriends have insisted they put down their gaming consoles for one goddamn night or it’s over, Dimitri Logothetis’ Jiu Jitsu has all the barely-motivated action and sci-fi trappings of a middling videogame and, well, at least a little of the dramatic value. Reteaming with Alain Moussi, star of his previous film Kickboxer: Retaliation, Logothetis finds nearly none of that film’s tongue-in-cheek, pulpy appeal (modest though it was). His only hope in that department, supporting player Nicolas Cage, occasionally keeps scenes from putting the viewer to sleep, but hardly justifies the existence ...

Given the rate at which the prolific actor churns them out, it shouldn’t be surprising to hear that there’s a new Nicolas Cage movie heading to VOD in the near future. The vast majority of these flicks are action thrillers that see the Academy Award winner going through the motions in a series of generic and formulaic entries into the genre, but his latest effort Jiu Jitsu looks completely insane in the best kind of way.
The plot will instantly let you know if you’re on board for it, which you definitely should be. The film revolves around an ancient order of martial artists who face off against a race of invading aliens with the fate of the planet hanging in the balance, and Cage plays the wizened mentor figure who gathers a crack team to defeat their extraterrestrial enemies in hand to hand combat.
