Ted Danson spent more than a decade playing Sam Malone on Cheers, he happily parodied his public image on Curb Your Enthusiasm and he even found a way to believably play a bowtie-wearing demon tasked with torturing humanity for all of eternity on a network sitcom. But none of those gigs were nearly as difficult as the one that required him to pretend to investigate brutal murders on a weekly basis.
On the most recent episode of his podcast Where Everybody Knows Your Name, Danson chatted with former Saturday Night Live cast member, and star of the underrated I Love That for You, Vanessa Bayer. While Bayer’s comedy chops are clearly evident, Danson asked the actress if she had an interest in taking on more dramatic roles.

Liz Feldman is back with a new series called “No Good Deed,” and just as she did in her Netflix series “Dead to Me,” she’s set up a pretty good mystery.
Now streaming on Netflix, the show centers on Paul and Lydia, who are trying to sell their very popular and desired home. For them, it’s become haunted after their son was killed there three years earlier.
His death is labeled a casualty of a home invasion, but nothing is quite what it seems on this one. And there are plenty of potential suspects in and around the neighborhood.
Here are the faces you’ll need to know.
Netflix Lydia Morgan (Lisa Kudrow)
Lydia Morgan is a renowned pianist, but after her son is killed, she can’t keep her hands from shaking and temporarily loses her ability to play. She’s brought to life by “Friends” and “Time Bandits” star Lisa Kudrow.

Throughout its three seasons, The Bear has introduced a number of unique characters, but none are as mysterious as Francie Fak, which means that the actress who plays her must live up to audiences' high expectations. Within The Bear's extensive cast, one branch of characters are the Faks. Originally, the Fak family was represented solely by Neil Fak, an eccentric family friend who helps do electrical and plumbing work at the restaurant. However, each season, more Faks have become known to viewers, which makes the urge to see the most mysterious Fak even stronger.
At this point, not much is really known about Francie Fak. Aside from being Neil's sister, the biggest element of Francie's character is that she has a major beef with Sugar. Audiences are still in the dark about what truly happened between Sugar and Francie, but based on Sugar's absolute hatred of the Fak sister,...

The 2024 Toronto International Film Festival has finally wrapped up, closing out a two-week frenzy of world premieres and screenings of highly anticipated offerings making their way across the international festival circuit. For many, TIFF (as well as the Venice and Telluride film festivals) marks the unofficial commencement of awards season, meaning the films that receive the People’s Choice Awards typically earn an early boost for their campaigns. Last year, the top prize went to Cord Jefferson’s publishing industry satire “American Fiction,” which would later earn the writer/director an Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay, as well as a nomination for Best Picture. This year’s winner was Mike Flanagan’s Stephen King adaptation “The Life of Chuck,” starring Tom Hiddleston.
12 of the last 14 People’s Choice Award winners at TIFF went on to receive Academy Award nominations for Best Picture and four of them actually won the award.

Would you trust John Cena to be your bodyguard for a day? Well, that’s what Awkwafina’s character is forced to do in their new movie, “Jackpot!”
Ok, technically, she’s trusting Noel — he’s just played by Cena. Now streaming on Prime Video, Paul Feig’s latest film centers on Katie Kim (Awkwafina), who finds herself literally running for her life after winning the lottery in near-future Los Angeles.
In this world, it’s perfectly legal to murder the lottery winner and take over their jackpot, so long as you complete the kill by sundown and don’t use a gun. It’s an insane concept, and it boasts a fun cast of familiar faces to bring it all together.
Here’s who you need to know.

Tim Robinson (I Think You Should Leave), Paul Rudd (Only Murders in the Building) and Kate Mara (Class of ’09) have been set to star in Friendship, a new comedy from Fifth Season and BoulderLight Pictures.
Pic centers on Craig Waterman (Robinson), who enjoys his life. He likes New Balance shoes, Subway sandwiches, and Marvel movies. He lives in the suburbs with his wife, Tami, and son, Steven. He’s happy to work at Universal Digital, a company that helps brands make their products more habit-forming. Craig sees no reason to change anything or make new friends… until weatherman Brian moves into the neighborhood. Mysterious yet friendly, macho but vulnerable, Brian (Rudd) transforms everything for Craig, but Craig’s obsessive and childlike nature threatens to ruin the friendship, and possibly everything else in his life.
Friendship is the first feature from director Andrew DeYoung, who also penned the script and is exec producing alongside Tracy Rosenblum.

Molly Shannon, who mined her Irish background to create delightful characters on Saturday Night Live and beyond, is the latest honoree to be announced for the 18th annual Oscar Wilde Awards.

‘Shadow And Bone’, ‘Glamorous’ & ‘Agent Elvis’ Among 5 Series Canceled By Netflix Amid Strike Impact
Exclusive: Netflix will not be going forward with more seasons of live-action series Shadow and Bone and Glamorous and adult animated comedies Agent Elvis, Farzar and Captain Fall.
The decision was made a week after the end of the SAG-AFTRA strike and a month and a half after the end of the WGA work stoppage as networks and platforms continue to evaluate the impact from the strike-related seven-month production shutdown.
While there had been a slew of series cancellations and un-renewals by linear networks and streamers during and immediately after the strikes, Netflix had largely refrained from making cancellation decisions during the past 6½ months while announcing a number of renewals, including One Piece (S2), Ginny & Georgia (S3 and S4); The Lincoln Lawyer (S3), Xo, Kitty (S2), Heartstopper (S2 and S3), The Night Agent (S2 picked up on the eve of the WGA strike), The Diplomat (S2), Fubar (S2), Sweet Magnolias...

In “Everything You Want,” the second single from Matt Rogers’ new album Have You Heard of Christmas?, he croons about sending holiday tidings to a former flame — who, as it turns out, he can’t quite remember. “Gifted you my heart and swore a lifetime of my love, you’ve gone away now,” he sings. “Go get everything you want even if you can’t give that from me…all the stuff you like, which I forgot.”
The song, which is also a collaboration with Katie Gavin of Muna, was one of the last he added to the tracklist. The collection began as new recordings of songs the actor and writer has been performing as part of his musical comedy tour of the same name, but Rogers felt it was missing something a little more emo. “I needed a song that went full Pisces,” he says with a laugh. “My...

Comedian Matt Rogers was stoned, wandering the streets of New York City, reeling from a bad breakup, and trying desperately to unlock the lyrics of a song steeped in this heartbreak — that also had to fit on his Christmas album. He had the start of a hook (“Go get everything you want…”) and a core idea, hoping his ex will get everything he wants in life, even if Rogers won’t be the one to provide it. But that was it.

The documentary series was removed from Showtime and Paramount+ earlier in July as part of a broader set of programs taken off the Paramount Global services. Vice joins the likes of The L Word: Generation Q, Ziwe, I Love That for You and American Gigolo in being taken down from Showtime, which is focusing its programming on key franchises like Billions — which has several spinoffs in development — Dexter and The Chi.
But while the other pulled shows had finished their runs, Vice still had half a season remaining on its order, plus an episode featuring a segment on Florida governor and presidential candidate Ron DeSantis that was taken out of the rotation in May. Bowen Yang announced that he will be taking a break from his podcast Las Culturistas to focus on his own mental health.
He posted a short statement over the weekend on his Instagram story.
“Taking a very short break from [Las Culturistas],” he wrote. “Bad bouts of depersonalization are f—ing me up bad, but I am doing my best to get better! Please take care, back soon.”
Yang has co-hosted the show since 2016 with Matt Rogers. They focus on pop culture and have had many celebrity guests on air, including Andy Cohen, Reneé Rapp, Keke Palmer and Kelly Clarkson.
Depersonalization is a serious mental disorder where a person will constantly feel like they are not in their own body and are observing their actions from outside. Each person’s experience with the disorder is different and it is also possible that you can feel like things around you and your life aren’t real.

Joanna Gold has sold her last infinity scarf — on Showtime at least. On June 8, the network canceled the Vanessa Bayer comedy I Love That For You, one of the last scripted originals awaiting its fate on the bubble. Production company Annapurna is expected to shop it around, hoping the series will find new life elsewhere, much like Three Women, which was canceled by Showtime in January but picked up by Starz in February. But by canceling I Love That For You, the network is solidifying its new direction, one that leaves innovative comedies like Bayer’s behind.
