The Magic: The Gathering Universes Beyond collaborations have brought countless new players to the card game, but haven't been without their share of controversy. Beginning in 2020 with Mtg's Walking Dead Secret Lair, fans have expressed concern over how these collaborations and their sales methods affect the game's health, especially when it comes to purchasing them. While Universes Beyond and other Secret Lair drops are more popular than ever, their implementation has left many players feeling frustrated or ostracized by the iconic Mtg.
The problems with Mtg's collaborations have been shown more clearly than ever thanks to Marvel's Secret Lair collaboration, being a prime example of why Wotc needs to fix its supply chain issues. Unlike the more recent full collaboration sets like the ever-popular Lord of the Rings crossover, the exclusive nature of Secret Lair products makes it frustrating and sometimes impossible to purchase them at all. The Lord of the Rings first came to screens in 2001 with The Fellowship of the Ring. The Two Towers and The Return of the King arrived in 2002 and 2003, respectively. A mighty project, director Peter Jackson had an irreplaceable novel to work from, written by J.R.R Tolkien, but with such a monumental piece of literature came the pressure of getting the movies just right.
Jackson did just that. The films are an extraordinary tribute to Tolkien, pleasing audiences and introducing them to his brilliance. They're so good that one watch isn't enough. They're not the type of films whereby once they've been watched, they'll be forgotten. The Lord of the Rings is an epic trilogy with many reasons for viewers to go back for a rewatch.

For most of our readers, Zachary Levi is best known for his role as Shazam in the Dceu. The first film was a hit with both critics and audiences, proving profitable despite featuring a lesser-known character.
However, the sequel was widely criticized and became a significant financial loss for the studio. Several factors likely contributed to its failure, including the fact that fans knew the movie wouldn’t lead anywhere, as the Dceu was already being phased out by that time.
After the release of ‘Shazam 2,’ Zachary Levi stirred controversy by suggesting that James Gunn is a nepotist, pointing out Gunn’s frequent casting of his brother, Sean Gunn. With Levi unlikely to reprise his role in the newly revamped Dcu, this frustration may have been a factor. His most recent film, ‘Harold and the Purple Crayon,’ also performed poorly at the box office.

For the majority of our readers, Zachary Levi’s most popular role in recent times is that of Shazam in the Dceu. The first movie was a major hit with audiences and critics and managed to be profitable despite focusing on a relatively unknown character.
The second installment however was panned by both critics and the audiences and turned out to be a major loss for the studios. Some different factors might have added to this failure, however, like the fact that it was already known that the movie was not leading anywhere due to Dceu being buried at this point.
Following the release of ‘Shazam 2’ Levi made the news once more when he hinted that Gunn is a nepotist, calling him out for hiring his brother Sean Gunn consistently in his works. Levi most likely won’t reprise his role in the newly established Dcu and this is likely what bothered him.

If there is one thing the gaming community can put their money on, it’s that Nintendo will go to the ends of the earth to protect its IP. Not just Nintendo, but any company, would do the same for a revenue-generating title that is being emulated for free.
Now, this would make sense for titles that are ongoing projects. Emulation would not only slow down sales of the game for the company but could also severely affect the sales of their hardware. But what if the games are so old that they are not even being manufactured anymore? Well, three companies deem them to be off-limits as well!
Nintendo, Sega, and Sony Issue Takedown Notice for Vimm’s Lair Nintendo and other companies are ensuring some games are lost to time.

There was a moment in Japanese culture when writers and filmmakers began to update centuries-old fears so that they could still be effective storytelling tools in the modern world. One of the best examples of this is how extremely popular stories like Ringu and Parasite Eve began re-interpreting the cyclical nature of curses as pseudo-scientific “infections,” with this new take on J-Horror even making its way over to the world of video games in titles like Resident Evil (a sci-fi deconstruction of a classic haunted house yarn).
However, there is one survival horror game that is rarely brought up during discussions about interactive J-Horror despite being part of a franchise that helped to popularize Japanese genre cinema around the world. Naturally, that game is the Nintendo Wii exclusive Ju-On: The Grudge, a self-professed haunted house simulator that was mostly forgotten by horror fans and gamers alike despite being a legitimately...

While exploring the Blighted Village in Baldur’s Gate 3, players may come across the Secret Cellar Door in the basement of the abandoned apothecary shop. Although this abandoned village might seem innocuous at first glance, there are dark secrets lurking underground. By opening the Secret Cellar Door, the party can expect all kinds of magical hijinks as part of the Search the Cellar side quest.
To access the apothecary’s cellar, you’ll first need to find the apothecary shop at X:35, Y:378, where you’ll find a hidden hatch behind the main shop counter. There are quite a few hidden side quests to be found in the Blighted Village, including the Finish the Masterwork side quest. However, the Search the Cellar side quest is perhaps the most varied, and you’ll benefit from having a strong party with a diverse set of skills.

Some Zonai Devices in Totk have niche uses but can become invaluable in certain situations, like the Portable Pot. The Portable Pot may seem useless with its single-use limitation, but it becomes crucial in late-game emergencies when healing items are scarce. During the climactic confrontation below Hyrule Castle, the Portable Pot shines as it allows Link to cook food to restore health when backtracking is not possible.
Not all Zonai Devices are immediately useful in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, but one is unexpectedly valuable in an emergency. Given the variety available in Totk, it is unsurprising that some Zonai Devices have rather niche uses. However, when certain situations do arise, these same Devices can become an invaluable resource.
Zonai Devices are at the core of what is perhaps Totk’s most iconic feature, the ability to Fuse items together into powerful shields, weapons, and even vehicles.

The Thundercats and He-Man are pop culture icons, but fans may be shocked to learn they share an epic backstory. Two of the most popular toy lines of the 1980s, Thundercats and He-Man and the Masters of the Universe have also spawned multiple animated series and comics, and in 2017 DC Comics brought the two together in one epic miniseries. He-Man/Thundercats revealed the two share a link, thanks to Skeletor.
In issue two of He-Man/Thundercats, written by Rob David and Lloyd Goldfine and drawn by Freddie E. Williams II, Skeletor has captured Mumm-Ra the Ever Living. The Ancient Spirits of Evil, Mumm-Ra’s patron deities, have grown tired of his inability to get anything done, and have now brokered a deal with Skeletor. Mortal Kombat 2 is well into production, and producer Todd Garner has given a positive update that fixes a major Mortal Kombat 2021 problem. While the 2021 reboot of the Mortal Kombat franchise wasn't a massive hit, it was a total-audience pleaser, as the video game movie delivered most of what was expected of it, such as Kano's hilarious one-liners, and the over-the-top R-rated violence. However, that's not to say that Mortal Kombat was without its shortcomings.
The Mortal Kombat movie franchise producer is extremely vocal on Twitter and very communicative with the fanbase, often making promises about what its sequel will have to offer. Now, Garner has revealed one thrilling location that will appear in the sequel: Shao Kahn's temple (via Twitter). He revealed this with a behind-the-scenes shot of one of the temple's dark corners. Ben Dollarhyde (Oded Fehr) just murdered his wife and son. There’s no refuting it. He admits that his body committed the crime. His mind, however, did not. And while he knows saying that sounds crazy, he cannot stop himself from believing it and subsequently telling a colleague (Corey Johnson’s Steven Caramore) who might agree. Except Caramore has never been a believer in the supernatural despite the fact he, Dollarhyde, and Ola (Kashif O’Connor) have worked in the paranormal sphere for years. Rather than make a career out of testifying at trials and collecting cursed artifacts because demons are real, however, he’s done it precisely because nobody can prove their existence either way. It’s therefore an easy paycheck. Corroborate stories, feign expertise, and earn some “scratch” in the process.
Caramore is, however, offended by Dollarhyde’s accusation that he’s to blame for what happened. He’s...

Filmmaker Neil Marshall is teasing his upcoming horror feature, The Lair, with the director using several key words which are clearly designed to excite fans of the genre. Marshall has recently described the project as being a "full-on monster movie" and cites the likes of Alien, Predator, and his earlier effort Dog Soldiers as major influences. Which should leave genre fans salivating. This news was first reported by https://www.talesfromtheboocrew.com/|Tales from the Boo Crew
"The Reckoning was certainly a return to horror, but I showed a degree of restraint. With the exception of one wagon wheel scene. So I wanted to come back and do a creature feature, I wanted to do some monsters, and just kind of combine elements from Dog Soldiers and Aliens and Predator and things like that. So it's a full-on monster movie with action and explosions and blood and guts and everything.

In the film, a fractured LGBTQ family are forced to face their demons, metaphorically and literally, as they unwittingly become embroiled in a man’s attempt to prove the existence of the supernatural in order to overturn a friend’s murder conviction.
“Lair” was shot on location in the U.K. with a predominately female cast. Newcomers Anya Newell (pictured), Aislinn De’ath, Alana Wallace, Kashif O’Connor and Lara Mount star alongside Corey Johnson, Jen Brister and Oded Fehr.
The film has just completed post-production. Working alongside Atkin is supervising executive producer Scott Mednick (“Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles”).

Wizards of the Coast has just announced a new Secret Lair drop for Magic: The Gathering and needless to say, fans aren’t impressed.
Secret Lair: Extra Life 2020 is the first limited edition collection going up for sale following The Walking Dead‘s hugely controversial crossover with the Ccg earlier this month, and while this particular product is being presented as a drive to help raise funds for charity, players can’t help but see the announcement as anything other than a thinly veiled attempt at fostering goodwill. Before we dive any deeper into the grievances being voiced over on social media, however, you can check out all four cards included in Extra Life 2020 down below.

Magic: The Gathering‘s next Secret Lair release is fast becoming one of the most controversial products ever created for the collectible card game.
For those not in the know, Wizards of the Coast announced earlier this week that AMC’s The Walking Dead – due to air its final season 10 episode later today – is to get its own set of suitably themed cards as part of a special collaboration. Unlike previous crossovers such as My Little Pony and Godzilla, however, these particular cards are neither silver-bordered (denoting their status as non-tournament legal) or alternate art variants of existing cards, as was the case with the latter in Ikoria: Lair of Behemoths.
Instead, those so far revealed, which feature several characters from the show including Michonne, Negan and Glenn, all have unique abilities to call their own. While all three are legal in formats such as Commander, none are overtly strong or even meta-defining,...

Magic: The Gathering‘s latest crossover product is causing something of a small outrage among fans of the card game on social media.
For those not in the know, Wizards of the Coast announced earlier this week that an upcoming Secret Lair (limited edition products that include promotional and/or alt-art cards/reprints) set containing cards themed after AMC’s The Walking Dead will be going on sale to coincide with air dates for the TV show’s final episodes. Crossovers with other media franchises are nothing new for the collectible card game, of course, with the likes of My Little Pony and Godzilla just two of many immortalized on cardboard over the years, but there’s something different about this particular collaboration.
All the contents included in Secret Lair X The Walking Dead will be printed with standard black, not silver – which denotes promotional, non-legal cards – borders, making them...

Magic: The Gathering Arena‘s first-ever cash prize tournament has been announced and it kicks off this month, no less. In its latest State of the Game update, Wizards of the Coast says that this particular competition is something of an experiment and has essentially been fast-tracked to release in order to give players an outlet to engage in high-stakes play online while current world events make traditional tabletop fixtures essentially impossible.
So, how does one go about entering the so-called Arena Open, what are the rewards and are there any restrictions? Well, let’s start with that last one first. While players of any skill level (an invite isn’t required) can participate, some rules to be aware of are as follows:
You must be 18 years or older to participate. Regional eligibility restrictions apply, void where prohibited. Receiving monetary rewards requires having or creating Wizards, Dci, and i-Payout accounts.

Wizards of the Coast is set to continue its partnership with Japanese film company Toho in the near future with a series of exclusive Magic: The Gathering cards featuring a certain King of the Monsters.
Making his debut in the Ccg earlier this month alongside the release of Ikoria: Lair of Behemoths, Godzilla – as well as other larger-than-life creatures such as Mothra – is currently only obtainable as an alternate Card Style in Mtg Arena. Upon Ikoria‘s long-awaited tabletop launch (repeatedly delayed due to the Covid-19 pandemic), however, players will be able to pull Godzilla and friends as standalone cards from booster boxes, though collecting them all won’t be so easy without incurring substantial import costs.
In addition to the above, Wizards has just announced that a new Secret Lair Drop – special edition releases that are only available for pre-order over a 24-hour period – boasting gorgeous art of the monster are on the way.

One of Magic: the Gathering‘s longest running and most well-respected online vendors and strategy sites, ChannelFireball (Cfb), has launched a premium content subscription service named Cfb Pro. This announcement comes in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic severely affecting sales of paper Magic cards across the world.
The launch of Cfb Pro represents a big strategy shift for the card trading giant. One of Cfb’s main competitors, Star City Games, has long gated its premium strategy content behind a paid subscription service. The Bay Area-based Cfb had until now boasted free content written by some of Magic: the Gathering’s greatest minds.
Cfb Pro features content produced by members of ChannelFireball’s professional eSports team, as well as by other recognized players. The pro team includes some of the best of all time, like Luis Scott-Vargas, Reid Duke and Martin Juza.

With the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic having an unprecedented effect on brick and mortar retail, Wizards of the Coast is playing its part to support local game stores through such prolonged closure periods.
While the company’s latest expansion, Ikoria: Lair of Behemoths, is scheduled to arrive on time for Magic: The Gathering Arena on April 16th, fans of the core tabletop game will have to wait until May to get their hands on the set due to delays caused by the virus. To combat the obvious loss of commerce that’ll befall LGSs, however, Wizards has spawned a new initiative dubbed Friday Night Magic @ Home.
Initially only intended to run for three weeks, the program has been extended by a further five, with folks who participate (more on that below) being richly rewarded for doing so. Among a bevy of cosmetic goodies up for grabs, players can look forward to...

Wizards of the Coast has revealed several new cards for Magic: The Gathering‘s next Standard set sure to delight fans of white decks.
Ikoria: Lair of Behemoths is out next week for digital versions of the Ccg, though paper format purists will have to wait until May 15th due to unforeseen issues involving the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. With just days to go, then, spoiler season is nearly at an end, with only a small number of cards left to show until the literally monstrous set arrives. As is true of any new major addition to the game, Ikoria introduces a number of new keywords and mechanics, chief among them this time around being Mutate.
The powerful buff allows applicable creatures to combine with other non-human entities for less than their usual casting cost, in turn combining the abilities of both. You can read more about the system works over...
