No pun intended - if you think about watching this and expect this to be subtle when it comes to the humor and the touching (well again no pun intended) of any subject matter ... do not even bother. This really hammers home the message(s) ... as in who is supposed to win! Having a family member decide is one way ... on the other hand, is that enough? Well you have to watch to find out.
Great overall cast - maybe not all where as known back then, as they became way more famous after this. Also great song choices ... to some really crazy performances. One dancing with a crucified Jesus ... I did mention that there is no subtle approach right? I thought it was fun to watch ... even if not great as I hoped it would be ... especially with the actresses involved ... still a good movie.

No pun intended - this is about showgirls ... but rather their ... well becoming obsolete mostly. At least the idea that our main character has of them ... of herself. But overall it is not so much about the show (which we are not really seeing ... apart from a little bit of it, at the end of the movie) ... it is about the main character portrayed by Pamela Anderson ... a role that could have easily be played by Elizabeth Berkley ... another Showgirl (no pun intended).
I was thinking this going into it and at the beginning of the movie. But now that I have seen Pam in it, it is tough seeing anyone else play the role. Same is true - even more so I suppose for Jamie Lee Curtis and Dave Bautista ... they both knock it out of the park.
The latter even having certain choices to give his character an extra ... let's call it quirk. It says a lot about his insecurities ... a man in an older stage of his life ... who is quite insecure. Who has no real friends ... same can be said about the other characters. Being surrounded by so many people ... yet being alone.
Pam or rather her character has some tough choices ... and she sometimes is on the wrong side when deciding. She feels like a star ... but it wouldn't be too wrong if she would listen to others ... helped them, the way they help her. Also, no one is dragging her down, except herself (if that is how she feels or how you might feel at some point or the other) ... yet it is tough to self reflect ... not just for her, but everyone who is stuck in a situation. Not sure if you ever had that ... but sometimes we choose to do something ... and out of being in a comfort zone ... we never decide to break out of it ... this would be one of the major themes here.
Acting is amazing ... and I was surprised this was not even considered for an Oscar (Academy Award) ... I reckon you can only nominate so many movies ... since there will be more shows (and girls) or ceremonies as they are called ... well there is time to get favorites of ours in there ...

No pun intended - I have seen the "original" .. though I felt that the plot could have been many times over. As if I have seen it more than once. Cliches and all that included - that said, there is some fun to be had, if you dismiss and/or suspend your disbelief ... it is about accepting that a romantic movie (comedy) does not care too much about ... reality if you want to call it that.
There are way too many over the top scenes (talking about the dates) ... characters are way too overdrawn ... quite laughable to say the least. And yet, while they are also cringe-worthy, you may find some humor in it ... the charisma of the main actors really help the movie never losing too much momentum ... take a picture ... it will last longer? Well sort of ... not sure this will last too long (on any list)
