LUME is an Albanian woman who lives with her husband, ILIR, and her mother-in-law, REMZIJE, in a small isolated mountain village in Kosovo. She has lost her only child a decade earlier in the war and is now constantly haunted by night terrors. When she mysteriously suffers from a second miscarriage, her anxious mother-in-law grows convinced that Lume has been hexed with black magic, and against Ilir’s protests, sets about seeking a witch doctor to cure her cursed womb. But their visit to a local Gypsy healer at the edge of the village fuels rumors in the village of her curse and suspicions about the strange Gypsy.
