Preston Poulter I wrote a short sample and just changed a few details to shorten it for a class. Same concept tho.

The original is called "The Ninth Door" the game app is called 'Ninth Door' it's a puzzle game. The company (Appnality) wants to take it VR in a couple of years.

The story has skeletons that chase. A room with a hot tar floor, and to get out the last door the walls slowly closes in until the protagonist deciphers a numerical code.

Here's.some advice I received early on as an actor; when it comes to auditioning; (or in your case pitching), cut the small talk. If a Casting director asks questions before you start your monologue or scene read, politely say, "I prefer to read first and answer questions after." They will agree. Why not change your approach? Pitch first then interview. It's your time. Own it.

Hi Zee, thank you for your feedback. I will discuss with the team. We're always looking for ways to improve everyone's experience. Perhaps we can ofter different pitching lengths for different purposes. With that said, pitching is a hard skill to master, whether it's 5 or 50 minutes. In my experience, short pitches can force the writer to focus on what's really important, making the exec wanting more. You potentially could have the same timing issue with a longer pitch session . As Suzanne pointed out, you could tie in your pitch to who you are and why you wrote this particular pitch right away so that if the execs ask you general questions, you can smoothly use your answer as a transition to tackle the pitch. As the new Director of Development Services, I will also be sharing tips and info to help during the matchmaking process to make sure what you pitch is a fit for the exec.

If I get stuck with a scene I tend to leave it and carry on through the script. Sometimes I need time to mull a problematic scene over in my head before I can write it... minor perk of having a boring day job!! I found myself getting a bit lost with my current pilot script so decided to do some work on the series bible which made me think ahead in terms of future episodes and that was surprisingly helpful.

I jump on Grok3 that helps me tons.

I'm slowly writing one short script right now, might start another one soon. It's tricky but rewarding :)

My first couple of scripts were short ones and I learnt so much by writing them so it is worthwhile doing it.

I agree with you Sarah and loved the blog! I wrote my first screenplay and now I wrote my first short script as a prof of concept. Next step will be producing and directing. I found it’s the only way to have experience and shout out my creativity. It’s the beginning and other examples proof that’s the journey for experience and success.
