I have a great fondness for this musical, not actually the movie. I saw a production of it when it was on a revival with Richard Burton reprising the role back in the 80's and fell in love with it.
I remember either Showtime or HBO did a taping of the same tour with Richard Harris as Arthur, but the DVD of that was really horrible. I hope that gets an eventual remastered release. I'll probably pick this up. |

I'm curious to how the sound mix will be on the release. It was noted over at the film score monthly forum that the only true to theatrical 6 track sound mix was an old pan/scan laserdisc version. Others can chime in on this topic.

Why, oh why did they have to go with that absurdly generic and ugly photoshoppy cover (that really has nothing to do with what the movie is all about), instead of leaving the gorgeous Bob Peak poster alone as they did for the DVD release?

please oh please get the audio right... with minimal filtering and noise-reduction. Let the natural fidelity come through with mag hiss in tact.
WB (and Fox) have a scary tendency to sometimes "noise reduce" historic tracks to "get rid of hiss", but in doing so they strip out all the highs and natural nuance of the recording. The CD soundtrack from over 10 years ago for the film soundtrack has great depth and resolution... the stems are clearly high-resolution and should communicate that level of fidelity on the blu-ray without any unnecessary manipulation other than authentic restoration. |

Watched it a bit tonight. I fell asleep around the first hour, right around the time Lancelot meets Arthur. Something about the songs didn't sit right with me but I enjoyed the performances (well, couldn't stand Nero from what I saw) and I loved the cinematography in the snow covered forest.
I should be getting a larger television and soundbar when I get my return so I'm gonna save it and hopefully I'll enjoy it more later. |

I really like this film. Has been pre-ordered.
Just because a film is long & a bit slow moving doesn't mean it is boring. TOO many 'Younger" film viewers seem to think any film that doesn't have a BREAKNECK editing pace is boring. |

Makes me wish Sony would get a move on Bye Bye Birdie and release that on Blu-ray. |

Take, for example, Julie Andrews' Guinevere in the original stage version: [Show spoiler] vs. Vanessa Redgrave's rendition: [Show spoiler] (...No, that second recording was NOT "slowed down". |
