#OnThisDay, 5 Mar 1992, Hanna Gronkiewicz-Waltz becomes President of the National Bank of Poland. She is the first woman to hold the role.

She goes on to be the first woman to be elected Mayor of Warsaw and is currently a member of the European Parliament.
