A shift away from a test obsessed education culture and instead focusing on building a love for learning... Could very well reduce the overall long-term cost of SEND by making schools welcoming environments for ALL pupils.
It is a political choice that means none of this is happening now, like many of the ills that impact the least able to fight for themselves in our society.

I could very well be wrong, but perhaps having at the national level, money spent to decrease classroom sizes significantly (20 or fewer pupils per class), policy changes that remove excessive and draconian school rules that cause extreme distress to neurodivergent pupils, sensible uniform policies... 1/2

We have so many problems, not least the reduction in PIPs and other benefits, the negative effects of the new ETA, the problems being caused by the American administration worldwide; and this kind of bigotry is what gets them up in the morning. Sigh

Rachel Reeves' Spring Statement papers contain a major suite of anti-tax avoidance proposals, probably the toughest ever introduced. If enacted this will, in effect, criminalise the tax avoidance industry.

"It’s worth noting that, while governments have an obsession with efficiency, it’s still limited solely to cost-cutting. There seems to be little interest in, for instance, making access to #welfare payments more efficient, or #healthcare, or #childcare, as any parent who has battled on their laptop deep into the night trying to conquer the tax-free childcare scheme knows. No, efficiency is only important when attempting to immediately maximise profit."

Why seek to nix the financial regulations inspired by the 2008 crash, when the likely result is a repeat performance? Why reject a wealth tax, when a 2% levy on assets of over £10m could raise £24bn a year? Why not adopt the measures proposed by Patriotic Millionaires, generating £60bn a year? Or those suggested by political economist Richard Murphy, worth £90bn in tax revenue? Why abandon plans to tax non-doms properly? Why not demand an end to the Bank of England’s destructive quantitative tightening?
