About the whole process, 585 out of my roughly 660 went as some sort of bulk operation, never did I have to handle individual files. If I had, I might have sacrificed the ones I am unlikely to re-/read, but it was a non-question.
Left for tomorrow: 34 files that didn't want to leave kindle, and the ones I've stupidly added myself through bookfunnel through the years. Hindsight etc...
Right now: backing up files I already converted to a secondary place.

I am one of many scrambling to get my kindle books downloaded and converted this weekend.
I ran into errors and problems immediately, but as of this moment I've gotten almost 600 books converted, and have alist of less than 60 left on my problem list. The ones left seem random, other books from the same author worked etc.

My Kindle is from 2012, it is a 5th generation Kindle Paperwhite, and it works perfectly. I don't need to buy a new one. Unfortunately, it is no longer supported by Amazon (it won't receive new updates).moftasa.net
Managed to #DeDRM nearly all our #Kindle books.
I used #Calibre + the DeDRM plugin method (see the link below for more details).
Try to use the Calibre Flatpak or download the official binary from their website. The one packaged for #debian bookworm is missing a python package that is an essential dependency for the plugin.

Finally downloaded my whole #Kindle library, imported it into #Calibre and converted them all to #EPUB with #DeDRM
That took me a while. But now it's done. Luckily, I still have a registered Kindle somewhere 😂 Not even sure where or if it's still functional. But it was registered in 2011 and is still connected to my account. Well, goodbye #Amazon — I won't miss you at all.
I have just found this a most useful article that will help those who (like me) need to get their books off their kindle fast, with as little pain as possible (being that it is an unfamilar operation, and I don't have time to noodle around the idea, with Feb 26th fast approaching)

El 11/02/2025 Amazon nos sorprendió con un cambio de sistema para descargar los e-books que has comprado en su plataforma. Yo vi el aviso en mi propia página de descarga el día 13.
A partir del 26/02/2025, dejará de poder usarse la opción "Descargar y transferir a través de USB".
Esta opción permite a un usuario sin wifi descargar el fichero y copiarlo a través de USB dentro del Kindle. Es muy apreciado porque es la opción más sencilla para quitar el DRM.
