The button to import a gpx as individual route is in individual route overflow menu - which means it doesn't exist if there's no individual route.

Options:

  • show import button when no route in is defined
  • allow converting an importet route into individual route

I'd prefer the later as this also makes working with individual routes a lot more flexible.

Showing the "load individual route" button (when no individual route is loaded currently) is required anyway - PR #16807 fixes this. I'll keep this issue open, as the second part is a feature request independent from that.

it's not an independent FR but an alternative way to solve it that doesn't require a separate button to be visible

Ok, maybe I misunderstood alternative 2. To me it looks like "import a GPX route, then convert it to individual route", which would be two steps instead of one - which I would find quite a hassle for someone using individual routes regularly. That's why I interpreted this as an additional feature, being able to convert a GPX route into a c:geo individual route. But anyway, this part is not implemented yet, that's why I kept this issue open.

Yes, it's an additional step, but considering the features not available at all it's an improvement and it would also get rid of having two import GPX buttons very user has to guess what a difference yes

The "load individual route" button is back on master already, so nightly users are back in the game for individual routes.

I would not mix the two features (GPX routes vs. individual routes) for now, as long as they have different feature sets. We may decide to merge the two features eventually, but will then need to decide along the way how to handle the differences.
