I put Mooncake.@mooncake_overlay DiffEqBase.set_mooncakeoriginator_if_mooncake(x::ChainRulesOriginator) = MooncakeOriginator() in an extension, and it does not seem to trigger in the core package. See SciML/DiffEqBase.jl#1158

ChrisRackauckas added a commit to SciML/DiffEqBase.jl that referenced this issue May 24, 2025
This doesn't trigger either, so it seems to be a bug in Mooncake chalk-lab/Mooncake.jl#587
