To get started on a bare macOS installation, first install Nix:
curl --proto '=https' --tlsv1.2 -sSf -L https://install.determinate.systems/nix | sh -s -- installLaunch a new shell. Then use Nix to switch to the macOS configuration:
sudo rm /etc/bashrc
sudo rm /etc/nix/nix.conf
nix \
--extra-experimental-features flakes \
--extra-experimental-features nix-command \
run nix-darwin -- switch \
--flake github:chrishrb/nix-dots#mwOnce installed, you can continue to update the macOS configuration:
nix run nix-darwin -- switch --flake "."
# or
darwin-rebuild switch --flake "."Or format all files:
nix fmtActivate the German Programming Keyboard:
Open macOS System Settings -> Keyboard -> Text Input -> Edit -> click + -> click Deutsch - Programmierung -> click Add
sudo nix-collect-garbage -dBoot your machine with a live usb-stick and run
nix
