This commit addresses issue containerd#7318 by introducing events broadcasting to the current implementation. The integration/container_event_test.go is extended to demonstrate the broadcasting capabilities of two simultaneous connected clients. Signed-off-by: Yury Gargay <yury.gargay@gmail.com>

Curious; with the work being done on OTEL, and with context-loggers being used; would it make sense to have these signatures accept a context? (code below could use the context-logger, and perhaps the context would be useful to pass around?
Even wondering if a context (on Send()) could replace the global configured discardAfter (if it would make sense to have a discard per event).

Add context to the New interface or callback or both? There isn't much inside the event queue itself that would would care about context or be able to manage it. I ended up adding a Shutdown to allows tests to synchronization, I don't think context cancellation is better for that. It seems to me though that context should either be embedded in the event types or part of the callback.

publish will be blocked if sub.c is full. So one consumer may block the others from receiving updates. Is it acceptable?

We could consider adding a log after a timeout if this condition is hit, but retry after. Reliably and efficiently sending events to multiple subscribers can get very sophisticated. Much of that sophistication is probably unnecessary, but it would be good to have visibility into any case which is blocking.
My hypothesis is that if the subscriber is active, then the 100 event buffer is more than enough for it to keep up with the the flow of events. Previously there was a single 1000 event buffer that would fill up when there were no subscribers to pull them out of the channel, I don't believe there was a case where there was an active subscriber and the channel still filled up. It would be good to know that though.

the original proper channel size / model issue still exists...
the original purpose was to get early event notifications to the kubelet client vs having them wait for the pod status check cycle
this time/size of the channel should be tied to the events in the channel.. and co-related status requests .. probably no good reason to send the exit event notification after the pod/container status indicates it is no longer running

A solution to multiple subscribers and dropped events.
The current approach uses a large buffered channel which has no option except to eventually drop events if there are no subscribers. One explored approach of throwing those into goroutines may end up leaking those goroutines if the events are never subscribed to. This solution attempts to use a timeout for the events and discard them if there are no subscribers after a given amount of time. There is no limit to the number of events it will queue up before discarding, so it may be ideal to have this be configurable.
