running ./link_dotfiles.sh will make symlinks for all the dotfiles into your ~ home directory. git-completion.bash should be in ~/bin and must be manually stored there for git completion/coloring to work properly

we try to add an extra file per computer for any special settings that pertain only to that computer. that should be contained in the file .special_bashrc which you should place in your home_folder for any specific aliases and stuff.
