Yeah, that is not an acceptable libre license, sadly. I guess if someone else redistributes them under OFL and is willing to indemnify Google, I could accept that version's Latin part. Serving CJK is not currently possible, although https://github.com/googlei18n/TachyFont is worth keeping an eye on :) |
I see, thanks. The author Coji Morishita has indicated willingness to submit to Google Fonts previously: http://osdn.jp/projects/mplus-fonts/forums/3403/31246/. I just pinged that thread again. Let's see if we hear back. |
I also replied on the thread. This looks very positive :) |
Hi @davelab6, I got in touch with the author Coji, and he asked me to help him prepare a new repo with the latest I also asked Coji to sign the Google CLA and he's done so. I think we're ready to proceed. Can you please take a look? |
Awesome, thanks for your work on this @rayshan :) I filed rayshan/mplus-fonts#1 The family table naming scheme needs fixing up, as described in http://designwithfontforge.com/en-US/Font_Info_&_Metadata.html |
You're welcome! I'll change the license file and relay the message about fixing the table naming scheme. |
Hello all, |
Whether weight of thin fonts is 100 or 250? According to Google Fonts, weight of Roboto Thin is 100, but the table says value >= 250 and <= 900 in steps of 50. |
Roboto is wrong at the moment. |
@mandel59 thanks 🎉 |
Ping @davelab6 - the family table naming scheme changes are ready for your review here: |
Could you permit that the weight of thin is 100? I've examined whether there are fonts whose weight is 250 in Google Fonts, but I couldn't have found such fonts. Fonts that have more than one thinner weight gives the thinnest weight to be 100 or 200. This might be because CSS currently doesn't allow font-weight values to be 250. I've also found GTK+ apps using Pango work badly with such odd weight. |
Friendly happy 2017 ping for @davelab6 and team. Still very much looking forward to having this beautiful font available on Google Fonts. Let me know if there's anything I can do to nudge it along. |
It's already available via Early Access. |
@kyoshino thanks! It's also here: How did I miss the early access program?! It only has the Japanese character set, not Latin. So this issue is still valid. |
M+ has graduated from Early Access. https://twitter.com/googlefonts/status/1032724526851936256 |
@kyoshino thanks! Looks like only 1p is available in Japanese and Latin characters. Monospace variant is not. We're half way there. I will leave this issue open. |
Which specific M+ family should be added?
|
@davelab6 spoke to Coji, he recommends:
Coji also sends his regards to you. I don't think he's on GitHub. Happy to continue to relay messages and help in any way. |
Ping following the discussion at Homebrew/homebrew-cask-fonts#2246 — what needs to happen for this to move forward? I'm happy to help out if I'm given the right pointers :) |
@rayshan Hello! I found that this font is beautiful and almost support all Traditional Chinese characters! Sorry that if it sounds too layman or rookie here. |
closing this in favor of #3374 which is linked to PR |

They're really beautifully designed fonts, including proportional and fixed-halfwidth Latin, fixed-fullwidth Japanese character sets.
