Main Window

Main Application Window

The main application window is shown above. The toolbar contains, from left to right:

  • Seek Control
  • Progress Counter
  • Various Button Controls
  • Volume/Pitch/Balance Control

Underneath the toolbar, the main window is split up into three main areas. Dragging the divider between the Navigation & Playlist Display allows the relative sizes to be changed.

Navigation Display

This lists the various types of playlists under the following main branches:

  • Computer - folders, drives and Audio CD discs.
  • Playlists - manually generated user playlists.
  • Favourites - a playlist for storing favourite tracks.
  • Streams - all internet streams in the application media library.
  • All Tracks - all tracks in the application media library.
  • Artists - media library tracks grouped by artist.
  • Albums - media library tracks grouped by album title.
  • Publishers - media library tracks grouped by publisher.
  • Composers - media library tracks grouped by composer.
  • Conductors - media library tracks grouped by conductor.
  • Genres - media library tracks grouped by genre.
  • Years - media library tracks grouped by year.

The Computer branch can be used to browse the folders, drives & Audio CD discs on the computer. Changes to the computer file system are monitored so that the Computer branch can be updated appropriately.

The Playlists branch contains all the playlists manually generated by the user. If one of these playlists is already highlighted, clicking on it again will allow the playlist title to be edited. Opening up the context menu also allows playlists to be created, deleted, imported or exported.

The other main branches contain playlists which are automatically maintained in the application media library. These branches can be shown or hidden by accessing the context menu. These playlists cannot be deleted or renamed.

Playlist Display

This displays the current playlist. The playlist can be sorted by clicking on a column header. Tracks can also be dragged around to change the playlist order. Double clicking on a track or pressing the Return/Enter key will start playback. If the currently selected playlist is not an automatically generated playlist, pressing the Delete key will remove the currently selected tracks from the playlist.

Playlist columns can be shown or hidden by accessing the context menu. Clicking on an already highlighted playlist item will allow certain properties (e.g. Artist, Title, Album) to be edited. Opening up the Track Information dialog allows multiple tracks to be edited at once, and also allows artwork to be chosen.

Visual Display

This displays one of available visuals:

  • Artwork
  • Peak Meter
  • Oscilloscope
  • Spectrum Analyser
  • VU Meter (Mono)
  • VU Meter (Stereo)

The context menu can be used to change the currently displayed visual, and to modify various visual specific settings. The visual display can be turned off entirely from the main application View Menu. There is also a 'Hardware Acceleration' option, which can be toggled on or off. When enabled, the visuals will use the system's default graphics card device (when available) to accelerate drawing operations.

The Artwork visual displays artwork for the currently playing track, otherwise artwork for the currently selected playlist item is shown when playback is not active.
