barbershop
is a tool for automatically identifying the sample(s) used in
"plunderphonics" genres such as vaporwave, barber beats, future funk, etc. It
works by repeatedly adjusting a track's playback speed and sending short clips
to a music-identification service. Once there are enough matches for a
particular sample, barbershop
outputs the sample metadata, as well as links to
YouTube and/or Spotify so that the user can confirm the match.
barbershop
can identify both individual track and albums, from YouTube,
Bandcamp, or local files on disk. It also supports a "manual" mode, where you
can control the playback speed yourself if the automatic mode is failing to find
the correct sample. Lastly, barbershop
can be run as a server, if you just
want a simple UI that doesn't require using the command line.
Binaries are available here. You will also need to install yt-dlp
and ffmpeg
