Working on a helpdesk ticket, I noticed a bug with NIRSpec imaging WCS transforms when the filter is OPAQUE. The detector to MSA transform works, e.g.:
img_det2msa = img_wcs.get_transform('detector', 'msa')but fetching the inverse transform crashes:
img_msa2det = img_wcs.get_transform('msa', 'detector')The issue is a scale factor added to the end of the WCS transform to report final wavelengths in um instead of m. The implemented scaling model overwrites the inverse transform in the gwa2msa transform, so that it expects the wrong number of input and output values.
The fix here is to apply the scaling earlier for wavelengths for terminal MSA coordinates, before the gwa2msa transform and its inverse are defined.
