49ers' Siran Neal: Moving to NFC
    10h ago

The 49ers are signing Neal to a two-year contract, Cameron Wolfe of NFL Network reports.

To this point, Neal had spent his entire NFL career in the AFC, playing six seasons with Buffalo and one with Miami. He's worked almost strictly as a special teams ace in recent campaigns, logging fewer than 60 regular-season defensive snaps and more than 300 special teams snaps each of the past three years. Neal will likely take on a similar role in San Francisco.

Bears' Travis Homer: Returning to Chicago
    13h ago

Homer (hamstring) signed a one-year, $2-million deal with the Bears on Monday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

The running back will remain with the team that he played for during the 2023 and '24 campaigns. Homer missed Chicago's last three games of 2024 with a hamstring injury but appears to be healthy again. He played more on special teams than offense in each of the last two seasons, recording just six carries for 23 yards and three catches for 11 yards between the two years.

    Garrett Bradbury: Cut by Minnesota
    16h ago

The Vikings announced Monday that they are releasing Bradbury, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.

The 29-year-old from NC State has been an integral part of the Vikings offensive line since entering the NFL in 2019, starting all 88 of the regular-season games he's appeared in. However, with the team signing All-Pro Ryan Kelly last week, it became clear Bradbury wasn't a part of Minnesota's future plans. The veteran center is now expected to draw interest from teams in need of offensive line depth before the 2025 season.

Now in Pittsburgh, the 29-year-old is expected to compete with DeShon Elliott for a starting safety position alongside Minkah Fitzpatrick.

Dodgers' Shohei Ohtani: Scores twice Opening Day
    9m ago

Ohtani went 2-for-5 with a double, two runs scored and a strikeout in Tuesday's 4-1 win over the Cubs in Tokyo.

The Japanese superstar was unable to deliver a home run in the first official game back in his home country, but he still produced as a leadoff man in the season opener. Ohtani recently slowed his pitching progression in order to ramp up his preparations as a hitter for Opening Day, but he's still expected to join the starting rotation sometime in May. For now, the 30-year-old will continue to serve as the Dodgers' designated hitter as he works his way back from November shoulder surgery.

Brewers' Joel Payamps: Remains in key role
    16m ago

Payamps allowed two earned runs over an inning of relief in Monday's spring game.

Payamps opened the exhibition season with three straight scoreless outings, but he was touched up for a couple runs in his fourth appearance. Payamps was a steady presence near the back end of Milwaukee's bullpen the last two years, over which he racked up 10 wins and nine saves. He figures to fill a similar role in 2025 and will likely open the campaign as the setup man in front of closer Trevor Megill.

Dodgers' Tanner Scott: Secures first save of 2025
    17m ago

Scott struck out one and didn't allow a baserunner in a scoreless ninth inning to record the save versus the Cubs in Tokyo on Tuesday.

After signing a four-year, $72 million contract with the Dodgers during the offseason, it's fitting that Scott received and converted the first save opportunity of 2025. The left-hander worked quickly against the heart of Chicago's lineup, throwing eight of 10 pitches for strikes. Scott is expected to be Los Angeles' lead option for the ninth inning, but he could still have some saves vultured since manager Dave Roberts also has Kirby Yates, Blake Treinen and, eventually, Michael Kopech (elbow) at his disposal.

Athletics' Shotaro Morii: Will be developed as two-way player
    18m ago

Morrii will be developed as a two-way player after signing for $1,510,500 million - the largest signing bonus for a Japanese amateur to not play for Nippon Professional Baseball, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports. He had an exit velocity of 110.1 mph of his bat in Friday's Spring Breakout game where he batted at DH.

Morrii is an 18-year-old Japanese two-way phenom who skipped Japan's professional league (NPB) draft to come to MLB. He thows 95 mph as a pitcher as well. It's a curious and unique decision to develop him as a two-way player. He's expected to begin the season in the Rookie-level Arizona Complex League.

Cubs' Shota Imanaga: Tosses four scoreless in opener
    22m ago

Imanaga didn't factor in the decision Tuesday against the Dodgers in Tokyo after he struck out two and allowed no hits and four walks over four scoreless innings.

The left-hander didn't allow a hit while pitching in his home country of Japan, but Los Angeles still generated some opportunities with patience at the plate. Imanaga threw 43 of 69 pitches for strikes and induced 12 whiffs, so the stuff was good even though it didn't result in strikeouts. After posting a 2.91 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 174:28 K:BB over 173.1 innings as an MLB rookie last year, the 31-year-old produced a quality outing to begin 2025 despite a limited workload.

Red Sox's Tanner Houck: Builds pitch count
    31m ago

Houck allowed two unearned runs on six hits while striking out three over 4.1 innings in Monday's spring start against Baltimore.

Houck made his third start of what has been a rocky Grapefruit League. The right-hander has allowed 17 hits and three walks while striking out five over 10 spring innings (6.30 ERA). That he got a fifth up-and-down and threw 72 pitches is a positive sign for Houck, who was Boston's most dependable starter from April to October of 2024. Once considered to start Opening Day, those plans changed after Boston acquired Garrett Crochet during the offseason. Houck is scheduled to work the second game of the season, March 28, behind the deserving Crochet (one run allowed, 10.1 spring innings), who will start the first game of the regular season.

Payton finished with 18 points (8-10 FG, 2-3 3Pt, 0-1 FT), three rebounds, one assist, one block and three steals in 26 minutes during Monday's 114-105 loss to the Nuggets.

Payton has come in handy as a sixth man. Stephen Curry gets little rest when healthy, and his ailing back almost produced a scratch for the All-Star. Payton will be instrumental in keeping. Curry fresh as the payoffs approach, and it wouldn't be surprising to see an uptick in Payton's production down the stretch.

  • Jimmy Butler GS SF
Warriors' Jimmy Butler: Leads team with 23 points
    2h ago

Butler provided 23 points (8-16 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 6-10 FT), eight rebounds, six assists, one block and two steals in 33 minutes during Monday's 114-105 loss to the Nuggets.

Butler's addition was a big part of the Warriors' winning streak. which was snapped by Denver Monday night. With Jonathan Kuminga healthy, the lineup for the playoff run is starting to take shape, and Butler provides offensive firepower that can offset a poor shooting performance from Stephen Curry, who is the team's primary catalyst. Butler was excellent during the seven-game winning streak, averaging 16.4 points, 6.1 assists, 5.6 rebounds and 1.2 steals over the span.

Lakers' Austin Reaves: Leads team with 30-point effort
    2h ago

Reaves registered 30 points (12-21 FG, 5-13 3Pt, 1-1 FT), seven rebounds, six assists and two steals across 36 minutes during Monday's 125-109 win over the Spurs.

Reaves has firmly established himself as the Lakers' third offense option behind LeBron James (groin) and Luka Doncic, but he's enjoying a more significant responsibility as a scoring weapon due to the absence of James. Reaves has scored at least 28 points in his last four contests, averaging 30.8 points and shooting 52.9 percent from the floor in that span. He should continue to be one of the Lakers' go-to options on offense as long as James remains sidelined, meaning he'll have a considerable uptick in his fantasy value in the short term.

Porter logged a second consecutive double-double after posting a 20/11 line against the Wizards on Saturday. Although he's had some rocky totals, Porter is enjoying a fairly productive March, averaging 16.0 points, 8.2 rebounds and 1.9 assists with four double-doubles over the past nine games.

Doncic had another impressive showing Monday, and while his Lakers tenure got off to a relatively slow start, he's been absolutely dominant of late. Doncic, who's been orchestrating the Lakers offense due to the absence of LeBron James (groin), is averaging 30.8 points, 9.0 rebounds, 9.5 assists and 2.1 steals per game since the beginning of March. The numbers don't tell the whole story, however, as those figures are inflated by the 5-2 loss to the Golden Knights on March 5, when he allowed three goals on seven shots, good for a 12.86 GAA.
