"Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz said on March 14 that the IDF would remain deployed at five strategic points in southern Lebanon “indefinitely.”"
After the recent ceasefire, "Israel kept five strategic posts in the region, reportedly with permission from Washington"
And now, as Israel always does, they don't want to move, it's for their security, they own the place, God gave it them blah blah blah

"In a brazen declaration of expansionist Zionist ambitions, an Israeli Knesset member has openly called for Syria to be placed under the regime’s full control...“Damascus must be under full Israeli control, and we will ensure that it comes under our control.”"
He continued: “Syria must be completely subordinate to us, as must Jordan, without any military capabilities.”
Great Israel plan in the making

"The corporate media hasn’t bothered telling you that Israel is at war with Syria" They've been insisting that Syria was “liberated”
"By attacking Syria, Israel has violated the 1974 Disengagement Agreement after claiming without basis that it had “collapsed”"
"Israel is denying Syrians sovereignty over their land and plans to balkanise it, presumably so Syria’s resources can be looted with minimum fuss"

This is the incident I alluded to.

"Israel used their unconfirmed claims to justify a “response” against Hezbollah earlier this week, bombing a residential area in the southern suburbs of Beirut and killing top commander Fuad Shukr"
"...residents said they opposed Israel’s “attempts to exploit Majdal Shams’ name as a political platform, at the expense of the blood of our children.”

So Israel claims that their advance in Southern Syria is going to protect the Druze minority from sectarian violence.
Israel has used the Druze as an excuse before, when the Israelis blamed Hezbollah for one of their Iron Dome interceptor missiles landing in a Druze village in the Golan Heights on 27 July 2024. Children were amongst the dead.
Guess who's calling out Israeli's BS? The Druze themselves both then and now.

"Occupied Syrian Druze offered permits to work in Israel ‘like Palestinians’" Hilarious. If I was a Druze I'd run a mile.

"IDF statements detail that the ongoing invasion of southern Syria is getting broader and broader, with officials saying that they have carried out dozens of raids even deeper into Syria in recent weeks"
They're building military bases and announced that their presence will continue indefinitely. That's Israel.

"Syrians have taken to the streets in southern Syria to protest over Israel’s expansion into the country and its prime minister’s statements that Syria's armed forces cannot move south of the capital"
Netanyahu: “Take note: We will not allow HTS forces or the new Syrian army to enter the area south of Damascus,”
Netanyahu's excuse is that he's defending the Druze minority...oh do fuck off.
Sorry about my language, but Netanyahu..

#Palestine / 'We won't let them back': Israel's defense chief says 40,000 Palestinians 'evacuated' from West Bank refugee camps

40,000 Palestinians have been displaced from refugee camps in Jenin, Tulkarm, and Nur Shams due to the occupation forces operations. The Israeli Defense Minister, Israel Katz, has ordered the military to prepare for a prolonged stay in these camps, lasting a year, and has prohibited residents from returning.

What is the fate of these displaced people? Where are they living? Are they being provided with shelter, food, and other essential services? Haaretz's reporter doesn't seem to think this might be an important detail. They do mention though the cessation of #UNRWA's activities in the camps, providing essential services to Palestinian refugees, including education, healthcare, and humanitarian aid.

#TV [BBC 2, UK] / Gaza: How to Survive a Warzone

The documentary "Gaza: How to Survive a Warzone," filmed by remotely instructing two local cameramen, captures the lives of displaced Palestinian children within the ever-shrinking "safe zone" in southern Gaza during the recent conflict. The film follows children like 13-year-old Abdullah, 10-year-old aspiring chef Renad, and 11-year-old hospital volunteer Zakaria, showcasing their resilience and determination to survive amidst destruction and loss. It highlights their matter-of-fact coping mechanisms, while also presenting horrific scenes of violence and the devastating impact of Israeli bombings, including a new perspective on the widely-seen burning of Sha’ban al-Dalou. Despite the grim realities, the children's spirit offers a sliver of hope.

#Palestine / Comedian Nidal Badarneh's Haifa performance canceled following racist incitement campaign

Palestinian comedian Nidal Badarneh's performance in #Haifa was canceled by the police due to threats from far-right groups, following attacks on the comedian in media and social media for his commentary on Israel’s revenge war on #Gaza as part of his stand-up routine. Badarneh stated that the cancellation is part of a policy of silencing voices and suppressing freedom of expression, adding to a series of persecutions against Arab artists in Israel for expressing their political views.

#Palestine / 2024 was the deadliest year on record for journalists with majority killed by Israel's occupation force in Gaza

The Committee to Protect Journalists (#CPJ) reports that 2024 saw the highest number of journalist killings since they began tracking data, with at least 124 journalists and media workers killed. A significant majority, nearly two-thirds, were Palestinians killed by Israeli forces in #Gaza. The CPJ documented 85 journalists and media workers killed in the Israel-Gaza war in 2024, and 78 in 2023.

The CPJ is investigating 20 additional killings where it believes Israel may have specifically targeted journalists. International humanitarian law considers journalists civilians, and targeting them in conflict is a war crime.

#Palestine / Settlers attack Palestinians with clubs and dogs in occupied West Bank village, no arrests made

Dozens of settlers attacked Palestinians with clubs near the West Bank village of al-Minya (المنيا). According to Palestinians, six people were injured, including a pregnant woman who was attacked with stones and clubs, and two others who were injured by dogs set upon them by the settlers. The incident occurred shortly after Palestinians reported to the Civil Administration that settlers had encroached on nearby land. Israeli forces arrived at the scene, but no arrests were made.

#Europe / Far-Right leaders rally in Madrid, hail Trump, denounce Immigration and add the Likud as an observer member

European far-right leaders, including Hungarian Orban and France's Le Pen, praised #Trump at a "Patriots for Europe" summit in Madrid. The leaders railed against immigration and #wokism, while calling for a new #Reconquista. The event, hosted by Santiago Abascal of Spain's #Vox party, was held under the slogan "Make Europe Great Again".

reuters.com/world/europe/orban…

Reuters failed to mention that Likud is now an "Observer Member" of the Patriots for Europe. #Likud aligning itself with European far-right and neo-fascist parties that are calling for a "Reconquista" is pretty strange, to say the least. You'd think they'd remember what that meant for #Jews not just #Muslims.

The police initially claimed the bookstore was selling books supporting terrorism, but the arrests were made under the less serious charge of "breach of public order," a tactic described as common when dealing with freedom of expression issues. The court extended the Munas' detention, despite the judge criticizing the police for not obtaining prior approval from the prosecutor's office, as required for charges related to "identification with a terrorist organization".

Family members and legal representatives assert the raid was a form of political persecution and an attempt to control knowledge, comparing it to historical book seizures. The bookstore, established in 1984, is a well-known institution in occupied East Jerusalem, frequented by international visitors.
