Audio crackling is pretty common, no on #Linux when it comes to (potentially, #Steam/#Proton) games - at least under certain conditions (i.e. heavy load)? #Pipewire issue? I've found several suggestions though, but they all vary so not really sure what's the culprit or fix.

SOLUTION: Install the faudio package from the official Arch repository. One thing to note: do NOT use Cachyos’s kernels with faudio, it fixes the audio issue but introduces micro-stuttering.EndeavourOS

So here's the thing: I'd really love to use #Ardour for my next album, cause I don't want to continue working with something from a company sucking up to America's regime
Only problem is: I can't
I'm using 3 different audio interfaces via #pipewire 1.2.4, and Ardour keeps on forgetting USB audio and MIDI connections over restarts (or suspends), forcing me to make each connection again, which sucks.
First person to solve this for me gets a present and a special credit in the liner notes.

APPARENTLY I can #AirPlay my #Linux (#Fedora) machine TO a #Homepod and not the other way around like every tutorial on the Internet shows by using #RAOP.
RAOP seems to be the protocol under AirPlay and it's conveniently integrated into #Pulseaudio and #Pipewire.
HOWEVER, I manage to connect to my Homepod, but the audio has a 2-0.5s delay and is making my head ache

This feature consists of a new D-Bus API which allows applications to manage phone calls using the Bluetooth Hands-Free Profile (HFP) protocol.
Check out my short tutorial on how to use the API from the command line and have fun calling! 📞

#linux #audio ppl please help!
I'm running #ubuntu 24.10 and using #mkchromecast to connect to speakers in my house, pipewire and qpwgraph to connect that up apps like #Cider and #Plexamp
My problem is that whenever I stop playing audio then restart it it resets all my #pipewire connections, disconnects from the mkchromecast sink and reconnects to the default system audio
Is there anyway to stop this happening. or other tools that will work better?

Trying to figure out why my sid silenced the mic. It looks like a pipewire/wireplumber issue. If I switch my profile from "stereo input + stereo output" to "proaudio" in pavucontrol then set the default input to "pro 6" (see screenshots), internal mic is working. (but plugged-in not).
Any idea to identify the issue in order to report the bug against the faulty package (that’s why I use Sid in the first place)?
My brain is stuck in Alsa/ESD era 😉
Spent a better part of today, but I've got dmabuf modifier negotiation fully working in my pipewire screencasting code in niri! This happens to finally fix screencasting on NVIDIA GPUs. Still haven't got any GStreamer pipeline working though, maybe needs a pipewire update.
Apparently, my AMD selects a BGRA format modifier that has two planes. Some out of band info I suppose. And on Intel a preferred BGRA modifier has three entire planes!

I just wish I had more creativity to actually make something good with it!
My only issue is that while it plays back my track on PulseAudio perfectly, it stutters heavily if I switch the back end to Jack. I have #PipeWire on my system to stand in for both.
Definitely worth trying out!
