This is a fresh analysis of what Austen novels are appropriate for what circumstance you find yourself in. Honestly? The article is not wrong. (It also includes Austen's unfinished works in the list!)

This essay is an excerpt from the book "Jane Austen's Bookshelf." To sum up, Austen was inspired by many, many women writers from the 18th and early 19th centuries. Those writers are mostly forgotten, but this book brings them back to light.

Murder is a new one. Wouldn't that be delicious if Jane was murdered? (And I mean that in an interesting way...who would want to murder Jane??)

I think all the authors were keenly aware of the class differences from different perspectives, and while they are decades apart in eras, they do nail (from what I know) the issues cleanly and with grace.

There is something indescribably special about a friend who just ‘gets’ you. Met one of my oldest pals for lunch today to exchange Christmas gifts. (Okay, we’re not timely!) She’d only managed to find me another #print from Rowlandson’s The English Dance Of #death ! I’ve already got the masquerade (PARTY SKELETON!), and she’s found me the coquette. #GeorgianSatire #Rowlandson #satire #Regency #skeleton #goth #PartySkeleton

Less about BookTok and more on how the younger generations are getting into Austen and why.

Don’t be fooled by the title. The author dishes more blow-hearted opinions than answers the question he posits.

Overton is barely mentioned when we hear about where Jane Austen lived, and she lived near it for the first 25 years of her life! The walking trails do seem lovely. I’m glad Overton is taking the reigns to celebrate Jane’s legacy.

FFS, even Vogue UK falls into the spell of using, “It’s a truth universally….”

This isn’t a list of “dreamiest” adaptations but a list of adaptations in the last 30 years. All the favorites are here…including the 2022 Persuasion (which I LIKED).

I have failed for my Jane Austen empire by not writing an essay on celebrating Valentine's Day in the Regency era, so have some Pride and Prejudice cards instead!

I think this is the toughest question I've asked so far! If friendship, Lizzie Bennet. If situationship, Wickham. If love match? Cpt. Wentworth. I think. 😀

What I love most is this ending quote: "Therefore, this 1940 incarnation is a valued member of the World War II adaptation club; it proves that Austen’s book, much like Shakespeare’s, or Bronte’s, Baum’s, or Mitchell’s, can become whatever popular culture needs it to be."
