Traces of a morning walk in the Otago Peninsula, north of Dunedin, New Zealand
Take nothing but pictures,
Leave nothing but footprints,
Kill nothing but time,
Keep nothing but memories,
I accept and am a firm follower of these travellers ethos and credos.

An Invercargill principal reports that Seymour's school lunch fiasco is reaching absurdity. They received 600 macaroni cheese lunch packs from Western Australia yesterday and "...about a third were not eaten."
From Western Australia!
How much longer will Luxon allow Seymour to keep up this charade?

Just a reminder that One NZ (aka Vodafone) have now partnered with Starlink for their mobile service.
If you don't want part of you monthly mobile charge to go to Elon Musk it's really easy to switch over to another provider and keep your current number.
I did that with the families phones on Saturday at Rangiora Spark shop and they even managed to shave $90 of the monthly bill which was a nice bonus. Probably equally easy to do with 2 degrees as well.

Seemingly oblivious to Tesla's worldwide meltdown, Stuff is running a piece with the headline, "Tesla βworking pretty hardβ to sell Cybertruck Down Under".
Yeah, right. In Australia, Tesla sales for January are down 72%. By comparison, BYD sales have doubled in 12 months.
Besides, the Cybertruck is unlikely to conform to regulations in either Australia or New Zealand, same as the UK.
It's too big, it's ugly and it smells of Musk.

A firm contracted by Compass to deliver 125,000 New Zealand school lunches each day has gone into liquidation.
The Libelle Group didn't last long. How far are we into the school year?
If around 350,000 kids are receiving Seymour's slop each day, there's a third of capacity vanished, just like that.
Is it possible that churning out cheap slop at $3 a unit doesn't make financial sense, once Compass have taken their cut?

UPDATE: @Daveosaurus has found it in record time.
Anyone know where this is?
All I know is that it's on the South Island, and it's down 1km of gravel road . I suspect it may be in Otago or Southland but not sure (just because there's a few unpainted tin halls down that way).
Absolutely! Thatβs exactly the kind of ambition and focus needed if weβre going to put a dent in weeds. No new weeds in NZ's large bush reserves should be the line drawn.
It will be challenging to build widespread support as many weeds are more like cat problems than possum problems (a lot of people still like to plant them). Like NZβs predatory mammals, starting first with the more widely disliked weeds could make sense, and build momentum from there.

A couple of exciting nature observations from #LincolnUniversityNZ today:
A korimako-NZ bellbird was back singing. They leave campus to breed in the hills over summer. A few come back and spend autumn and winter on campus. Welcome back!
Also, two students saw copper butterflies! Only one had been seen before on campus, back in 2021. We have host plants planted now so we hope they'll stay.
